Overdue Golfers Headline Wells Fargo Championship

2024 Wells Fargo Championship Odds: Who Has a 'Chip on Their Shoulder?

Rory McIlroy and Xander Schauffele are overdue PGA Tour wins, and they headline 2024 Wells Fargo Championship odds.

McIlroy is the favorite at +700 over Schauffele at +850. It’s an open market with Scottie Scheffler not playing due to the birth of his first child.

The signature tournament on the PGA Tour schedule features the big names, and all eyes are on Quail Hollow.

Pressure Goes on McIlroy

There is a lot of pressure on McIlroy to start performing, but he gets another prime chance to win this week.

The 35-year-old Northern Irishman comes off a T33 finish at the RBC Heritage, which is a big level below his best form.

There’s no doubt his record speaks for itself, which only heightened expectations that his best form will return.

McIlroy is a proven winner of the Wells Fargo Championship. He won in 2010, which was his first PGA Tour victory, and he won again in 2015 and 2021.

Being a three-time winner of the tournament makes him tough to beat, and although he won the Zurich Classic with Shane Lowry, we don’t count that as a solo victory.

It has been too long since winning as a solo player on the Tour, but when it comes to golf tournaments, it doesn’t get much better than the Wells Fargo Championship for McIlroy.

We’re happy with the 2024 Wells Fargo Championship odds of +700 for the favorite.

Uncover Exclusive Picks & Predictions From Our Experts.

We’re Sticking With Schauffele

Schauffele is one of the most consistent golfers on the PGA Tour, and we’ll keep backing him until he comes up trumps.

He’s always near the top of the PGA leaderboard, and despite being an eight-time winner, it has been some time since he last won.

However, like McIlroy, class never goes away. The American just needs to get off to a better start on Thursday and he has every chance to win.

He likes to play well on Saturday to get him into contention, but he starts from too far back. Given the field at the Wells Fargo, he should feel confident in his chances to win.

Despite attracting negative criticism, he is keeping a positive attitude following a disappointing finish in the Players earlier this year.

“I’ll probably join them in [drinking] the Haterade at this moment,” Schauffele said. “But it is what it is. These suck. When I went to bed last night, it’s not exactly how I envisioned walking off the 18th green. I’ll lick my wounds and right back to it next week.”

Getting +850 for a player of his class is too good to pass up.

Maiden Win for Fleetwood?

Tommy Fleetwood can add his name to the list of quality players to have never won on the PGA Tour.

He has been right around the mark on many occasions, including a T3 finish at The Masters in April, which was a great performance from the Englishman.

The 33-year-old also finished T7 in the Valero Texas Open, T35 at The Players, and T10 at the Genesis Open.

Those finishes are good enough to see him winning a signature event, and his 2024 Wells Fargo Championship odds are well worth taking.

Bettors get +2500 for Fleetwood to win with 2024 Wells Fargo Championship odds, and he’s also a solid top 10 bet. He is paying +250 to finish in the top 10, so lock in the value odds.

D-Day for Young

Cameron Young won the PGA Tour Rookie of the Year in 2022, but he’s yet to win, and he’s out of form.

The 27-year-old is a quality player, like Fleetwood, but his lack of recent form is a concern. However, we’re happy to stick with him for a couple more tournaments.

He finished T62 at the RBC Heritage, which wasn’t his best work, but he finished T9 at The Masters, and that can’t be overlooked.

He plays his best golf in the big tournaments, and the Wells Fargo Championship is big enough for Young to rise to the occasion.

Bettors get +230 for Young to finish in the top 10, and we’re including him in our golf picks.
