We’ll preview the La Liga 2 Playoff Final odds from this decisive match.

La Liga 2 Playoff Final – Levante vs. Alaves Game Info:

Levante vs. Alaves

Day/Time:
Location: Estadio Ciudad de Valencia, Valencia, Spain

Last Match/Head-to-Head:

Alaves and Levante played to a scoreless draw last Sunday. Both teams had a handful of chances, but the goalkeepers were up to the task. The referee initially signaled for a Levante penalty in the 70th minute, but the offside flag went up, and the match finished all square. Levante are now unbeaten in their last four games vs. Alaves.

Levante won both meetings in the La Liga 2 regular season by a 2-0 scoreline. On their La Liga schedule last season, these teams split their matches. Alaves won 2-1 at home, and Levante picked up a 3-1 win in Valencia. Alaves have now won just one of the last seven head-to-head matchups.

Levante in Enviable Position

  • La Liga 2 Standings: 18-18-6, 72 pts, 3rd
  • Key Injuries: M Pablo Martinez, M Jose Campaña

Levante came away from Vitoria-Gasteiz with a crucial draw on Sunday. Now, the La Liga 2 Playoff Final odds price them as favorites for the second leg. Returning to La Liga takes just one home win, which they’ve done in 12 of their 22 matches in the second tier this season, including the playoffs. Notably, they’ve only lost at home three times in La Liga 2 all season.

Starting strikers Mohamed Bouldini and Joni Montiel couldn’t get on the scoresheet vs. Alaves last Sunday. However, they’ve combined for 15 goals this season and should be expected to lead the line once again. Levante will again be without midfielders Pablo Martinez and Jose Campaña, but they’ve both been out long-term. Jose Femenias kept his starting spot in goal despite the return of usual starter Cardenas.

There’s not much reason for coach Javier Calleja to change his keeper now, especially after Sunday’s shutout. Femenias has conceded just one goal in three playoff matches, and Levante has been solid defensively. Alaves got off just two shots on target in the first leg, and chances could again come at a premium.

Win or Go Home for Alaves

  • La Liga 2 Standings: 19-14-9, 71 pts, 4th
  • Key Injuries: D Nikola Maras, M Salva Sevilla

Alaves finished last in the La Liga standings in 2021-22. It looked like it could be challenging for the Basque club to return to the top flight, but now they’re just one win away from making that a reality. Still, Alaves have won just six of their 22 road matches in La Liga 2 this season, including the playoff semifinal. They’ve drawn their last three matches away from home, and last won on the road in early April.

With the away goals rule scrapped as of the 2021-22 season, Alaves must win in either normal time or extra time to earn promotion. Should the match finish in a draw after 120 minutes, there is no penalty kick shootout. Instead, Levante will automatically win promotion because they finished ahead of Alaves in the regular season standings.

So, Alaves must go for it here, which will mean reliance on Luis Rioja and Mamadou Sylla for goals. Rioja led Alaves with 10 goals this season, while Sylla has added five goals in all competitions. Midfielder Salva Sevilla scored four goals and provided three assists this season but left the second-leg semifinal fixture vs. Eibar with an injury. Sevilla missed Sunday’s draw and will likely be out for this match too. Defender Nikola Maras has also been out long-term.

Match Analysis and Odds:

Unsurprisingly, hosts Levante are +115 ATS and money line favorites for Saturday’s La Liga 2 Playoff Final. They’re unbeaten in their last three home matches vs. Alaves and haven’t conceded a goal in the previous three head-to-head matchups. If they don’t realize through 90 or 120 minutes here, they will guarantee themselves a spot in La Liga for 2023-24. Meanwhile, the La Liga 2 Playoff Final odds list Alaves as 0.5-goal underdogs.

Alaves are unbeaten in their last seven matches, though, and come in at -145 ATS odds. They are also +275 underdogs to get their first road win in two-and-a-half months. A draw also shows +200 odds, and that would mean two 15-minute extra time periods.

This season, each of the three meetings between these teams has finished with two or fewer goals. Here, under two goals are implied to be more likely than the over. Over 2.5 goals sit at -110 odds, while under 2.5 goals display -120 odds. As both teams look to book their place in La Liga, this should be an excellent matchup.
