The Seattle Mariners visit the Baltimore Orioles for a three-game series beginning Friday. The Mariners vs Orioles preview has Logan Gilbert getting the start Friday for the Mariners. Kyle Gibson will be on the mound for the Orioles. Baltimore is -114 and the total is 8.5. Seattle is coming into this one off a 10-2 thumping of the New York Yankees. Baltimore was off Thursday, but lost to Tampa Bay on Wednesday.

Seattle is 36-37 on the season and 15-20 on the road. The Mariners have struggled against good teams. The MLB results show Seattle with a 13-26 record when playing teams above .500. Seattle is 15-20 after a victory.

The Orioles are 45-28 on the year, including a 22-13 record at home. Baltimore is 22-9 against teams below .500 and 19-8 when playing after a loss.

Seattle isn’t hitting the ball very well this season. The Mariners rank No. 28 in MLB with a .227 team batting average. The Mariners are No. 20 in runs scored and No. 19 in home runs. So the Mariners are making the most of their hits. They’re just not getting enough of them.

Seattle is doing a solid job on the mound, ranking No. 9 in team ERA. The closers haven’t been the greatest, converting 16 of 26 save opportunities. But Seattle pitchers are fourth in MLB with a WHIP rating of 1.2.

The Mariners vs Orioles preview shows Baltimore at No. 12 in team batting with a .254 average. The Orioles are tied for 10th in home runs and are No. 10 in scoring.

Baltimore is No. 16 in team ERA, but have left a few wins on the field, converting 24 of 39 save opportunities. The Orioles have pitched four shutouts, but don’t have a complete game to their credit.

Friday’s Game

Gilbert hasn’t pitched poorly for Seattle. But the Mariners are 6-8 in his starts this season. He’s been a slight disappointment this season, with an ERA of 4.31 after last year’s 3.20 ERA. Gilbert received a bit of play in the MLB CY Young odds betting before the season began. The Mariners are 5-3 when he starts on the road.

Gibson is having a decent first season with Baltimore. The Orioles are 9-6 in the games he’s started and 4-2 when he starts at home. Baltimore is 6-9 in totals when Gibson takes the mound.

The line appears to be a little bit on the low side in this one. Baltimore has the advantage of an off day and is the better team. But the lean is to the under in this game.

Saturday’s Game

Bryce Miller is expected to get the start for Seattle, with Dean Kremer taking the mound for Baltimore. Miller has pitched well, going 5-3 with a 3.68 ERA. The Mariners have gone 6-3 with Miller on the mound and 2-2 on the road. Miller has been roughed up a little bit in his last two road starts, with Seattle losing 6-2 and 12-3.

The Mariners vs Orioles notes Kremer hasn’t pitched particularly great, but the Orioles are winning when he starts. That’s all that matters. Kremer is 8-3 with a 4.56 ERA and the Orioles are 10-5 when he takes the mound. The Orioles have gone 5-2 when Kremer starts at home.

The Orioles should be small favorites once again in this one and are worth a look if coming off a loss Friday. Despite Kremer’s pretty average pitching stats, the Orioles are winning with him on the mound.

Sunday’s Game

George Kirby will get the start for the Mariners. Baltimore has yet to name a starting pitcher for the game. Kirby is 6-6 with an ERA of 3.29. The Mariners are 7-7 when he starts this season, although he’s pitched a little better than that.

The Orioles could wait and see how much use the bullpen gets in the first two games before deciding on a plan for this game. The Orioles are in action Monday against Cincinnati, which is something the team will factor in when choosing a pitcher for this game.
