Six Title Fights – Which Underdogs Come Through?

We have five championship bouts, the tournament finals, for this PFL 10 card. The headliner is a lightweight scrap between Clay Collard and the defending champion, Olivier Aubin-Mercier.

At +215, Collard is not a bad underdog to side with. Aubin-Mercier (-265) has destroyed the PFL and is 9-0 in the promotion. But Collard is 3-0 as an underdog in PFL. He also has the striking edge and has fought a harder PFL 2023 schedule overall. While “OAM” has the edge by being better-rounded, Collard has a realistic path to victory here.

In the co-main event, Renan Ferreira has something you can’t teach: size. At 6’8” with an 85-inch reach, he will dwarf Denis Goltsov. As a 2-1 underdog, Ferreira might be worth a dart throw. Goltsov (-250) should starch him as the better fighter. But this is the land of giants. Ferreira just needs one clean punch.

And in the 170-pound bracket, Magomed Magomedkerimov is a slight favorite (-140) over Sadibou Sy (+115). This bout is shady but could be the most competitive title fight. If you play the 2023 PFL World Championship odds , Sy might have value at plus money.

The other three title fights have underdogs we don’t recommend.

Uncover Exclusive Picks & Predictions From Our Experts.

Marina Mokhnatkina at +500 is still not long enough to warrant betting against Larissa Pacheco (-700), who has been a wrecking ball. And Joshua Silveira (+145) is out of his depth against a resurgent Impa Kasanganay (-175). The former UFC fighter should knock Silveira out.

The featherweight finals also favor Gabriel Alves Braga (-125) against Jesus Pinedo in this rematch. Pinedo is an underdog (+105) again despite coming through as a 3-1 dog in his last two bouts. His last loss came against Braga, who is undefeated (12-0) and has beaten former champs like Chris Wade and Marlon Moraes.

Fade Harrison Who Returns in a New Weight Class?

Also featured in PFL 10 is the return of former two-time champion Kayla Harrison. A former lightweight, she makes her debut at featherweight against Aspen Ladd. The MMA betting odds are out of whack here with Harrison at -800 with the comeback on Ladd at +500.

We either bet Ladd here or pass. This is ludicrous and the bookies just want to protect themselves from folks parlaying the heck out of Harrison, whose only defeat came against Pacheco. But she is cutting weight and is fighting a tough veteran who has wins over three former MMA champions. This is not a cakewalk for Harrison.

Does Brunson Have Anything Left?

Worth writing about is Derek Brunson’s debut with the PFL to kick off the main card. He’s an underdog (+170) against the hard-hitting Ray Cooper III (-200). Brunson neglected to re-sign with the UFC and is trying his hand in the PFL. Typically an underdog, he’s won four of his last six bouts as one in a tough MMA schedule .

Cooper has been PFL’s resident overachiever. He is 3-0 as a dog with wins over Rory Macdonald and Magomedkerimov. But all his losses also came when he was favored. He is a bit wide here as the smaller fighter per the 2023 PFL World Championship odds . So does Brunson have one last upset left in him?
