Unbeaten Star Dominates Nurmagomedov vs Primus Odds

Bellator 300 Lightweight World Championship

It’s a one-sided betting market with Nurmagomedov vs Primus odds for Bellator 300’s main event on Saturday. The Bellator lightweight title is up for grabs as Usman Nurmagomedov continues the legacy of his last name against Amercian 12-3, who faces his toughest test to date.

It’s high-quality MMA, and Nurmagomedov is the extremely short favorite at -1200.

Not Just a Name

Having the Nurmagomedov name comes with a lot of pressure, but being Khabib’s cousin hasn’t affected the favorite much. He’s a perfect 17-0 around the MMA leagues, including Bellator and UAE Warriors. He hasn’t dipped his toes into the UFC world yet, but it could be only a matter of time before he signs.

He’s only 25, which makes him an extremely dangerous fighter, especially after beating Benson Henderson to retain his lightweight title. Nurmagomedov locked in a rear-naked choke in the first round, so he should be ready for Primus after that easy fight.

That came in March, and MMA betting odds have him at skinny odds to retain his belt, which isn’t surprising. In a strange twist, Khabib won’t be cornering Usman in the fight. Instead, Cain Velasquez, on trial for attempted murder, will be in the corner.

“He is scheduled to corner,” California State Athletic Commission executive director Andy Foster said. “We are in possession of a court order permitting him to do so.”

That’s one corner we don’t want to mess with!

Primus will have a tough time against Nurmagomedov. The Russian is the full package, which is why Nurmagomedov vs Primus odds are so one-sided.

Age No Barrier for Primus

Primus is 38 years old and he’s still fighting at a top level following a win over Mansour Barnaoui.

Older fighters don’t have a good record against younger fighters in MMA, and his recent record isn’t anything flashy, which is why he’s the +725 underdog to win the world title.

Primus is up against a generational talent, and although he deserves credit for getting to this position, it would take a brave bettor to back him to win.

He has two losses from his last four fights, including losses to Alexandr Shabily and Islam Mamedov, so we don’t fancy his chances against a much better fighter for the Lightweight World Championship.

He was left out of the World Championship last time around, so he’s not keen on giving up his opportunity.

“I was told I was in the tournament,” Primus said. “I literally called my manager every week for the last couple of months. ‘Dude, you’re in the tournament, I’ve already talked to him. You’re in the tournament, don’t worry.’ And I went to conditioning and looked at my phone and saw that I wasn’t in the tournament and, man, I just wanted to cry. I lost all motivation. It just hurts, man. Hurts really bad.”

Despite his motivation, a Primus win would be a massive upset, and we can’t see it happening.

Nurmagomedov’s Unbeaten Record Intact

We don’t think there will be a 17-1 record beside Nurmagomedov’s name on Saturday. All credit goes to Primus for getting off the proverbial canvas and getting this opportunity, but it could be over early in the fight.

The favorite doesn’t muck around in the cage, and bettors should look to prop bets for the best value. We’re confident in a Nurmagomedov stoppage, so pick him to win by KO, TKO, or submission, likely in the first two rounds.
