Xfinity Alsco Uniforms 250 Odds: Hill favored for repeat win in Atlanta

The Xfinity grid returns to Atlanta for the second race there in 2023 as the title fight gets closer

The NASCAR Xfinity Series has reached the halfway mark of the 2023 season. This weekend’s race at Atlanta Motor Speedway marks the 17th event on the 33-race calendar. There are only 10 races to go in the regular season, and four drivers have separated at the top of the standings: John Hunter Nemechek, Austin Hill, Cole Custer, and Justin Allgaier. Unsurprisingly, they’re near the top of the Xfinity Alsco Uniforms 250 odds this week.

Custer had a dominant run last week in the Xfinity Series’ first street race in Chicago. He took the pole and led every lap to his second victory of the 2023 season and second in four races. He’s the best driver in the series at the moment but isn’t at the top of the NASCAR odds this week. Here’s how they break down for Atlanta.

Hill the heavy favorite in Atlanta

Hill led the Xfinity Series championship for much of 2023, thanks to a stellar start. Three wins in the first five NASCAR races put him in a great position to improve from a sixth-place finish in the 2022 championship. One of those wins came in Atlanta in the RAPTOR King of Tough 250.

He led nearly two-thirds of the laps of that race en route to victory. This isn’t an isolated incident, either. He won his second career Xfinity Series race at the second event in Atlanta last season. At the first Atlanta race, he took second. He took second place in the Camping World Truck Series in 2021 and 2020.

At +320, he’s a big favorite for a great reason. He dropped off a bit after the first Atlanta event this year, with just one top-10 finish in the following four races. But since Dover, he’s been back on track with seven consecutive top-eight results.

Defending Xfinity Series champion and current Cup Series driver, Ty Gibbs has the next-shortest odds at +700. He won the spring Xfinity race in Atlanta last season and started first in the second race. But a crash put him out after 93 laps, including seven leading at the front.

Gibbs’ NASCAR Xfinity results have been mixed this season. Third in Austin, fifth in Charlotte, and fourth in Sonoma came before 37th in Nashville. He’ll likely be Hill’s strongest challenger but will need an uptick in form and luck to do it.

Sheldon Creed (+850) surprisingly rounds out the top three in odds. Creed’s yet to win in 2023 and has placed in the top three just twice in Phoenix and Talladega. Last time in Atlanta he finished 21st, and the prior categories weren’t much better. His best result is fifth in the 2021 Camping World Truck Series. He’s finished 11th or lower in the last three races.

Other championship contenders in the next group

Nemechek leads the next group in odds at +1000. The NASCAR Xfinity standings leader has a 16-point lead over Hill and had a solid second-place finish last week in Chicago. He still has yet to win a race since his dominant victory in Martinsville but has finished outside of the top 10 just twice in that span of eight races.

He’s raced well in Atlanta in other categories: his Craftsman Truck Series results include a win and two other top-three since 2016. He also finished second in Daytona, one of the other high-speed ovals on the calendar. It’d be hard to count him out of a fight for the win here.

Justin Haley sits at +1000 as well. The Cup Series driver makes his fourth Xfinity appearance this season. He managed 10th place at both Daytona and the spring Atlanta race as well as 12th in Charlotte. Atlanta’s one of his better tracks, with four top-eight finishes in his last five Xfinity races there.

He’s never won in Atlanta but has victories in Daytona and Talladega in this series. Like Gibbs, he’ll find the going a bit easier than the Cup Series and will likely be near the front again.

Josh Berry (+1200) comes to Atlanta after an off weekend in Chicago saw him finish 24th. It’s been an inconsistent month for the JR Motorsports driver. Fourth in Portland, 33rd in Sonoma, fifth in Nashville, and 24th last week has put him well behind the Xfinity leaders.

These odds reflect his seventh-place finish last time out in Atlanta and second in this event last year. He could use a strong result here to close the gap to the top of the leaderboard.

Custer and Allgaier sit at +1400 in the Xfinity Alsco Uniforms 250 odds. Custer’s recent run of 10 consecutive top-10 finishes is the best in the series, punctuated by his two wins in the last four races. He’s now just 44 points behind Nemechek in the Xfinity standings.

He’s had mixed results in Atlanta, like a top-three finish in 2019 coming after a 39th-place finish the year before. Earlier this season, he finished 12th but could do much better with the run he’s on right now.

Allgaier’s top-three finish in Chicago was his seventh of the NASCAR season, the most of any Xfinity driver in 2023. He had a rough go last time in Atlanta, finishing 29th after starting in 19th. But historically, he’s driven well there, with a win in 2021 and another eight top-10 finishes since 2011.

He’ll have better momentum heading into this event than the spring one thanks to his top-three finish and could have a much better showing.

Predictions for the Alsco Uniforms 250

This is the first time the Xfinity Series has a repeat track on the 2023 calendar. It’s the first one before the field returns to Daytona in August. As such, there’s much more information to go off of before choosing the best pick from the Xfinity Alsco Uniforms 250 odds.

Hill is the favorite for great reason as he’s consistently stellar at this oval and he needs a sweep here to jump ahead of Nemechek. Of the favorites, go with him to get you a solid result. For a better payout, look to his title rival Nemechek or Allgaier.
