Damian Lillard’s Looking For Consecutive Three-Point Contest Wins

The NBA 3 Point Contest 2024 Has Two Former Champions In The Field

The All-Star Weekend festivities have begun!

On Saturday, we’ll have the skills competition, three-point contest, and slam-dunk contest to look forward to.

The three-point contest looks to be the most appealing of all the events.

After Damian Lillard brought home the title last year, he’ll look to add another trophy in consecutive years. The three-point field also has Karl-Anthony Towns, who surprised many folks a couple of years ago by winning his first Three-Point contest.

Take a look at the NBA 3-Point Contest 2024 odds below.

Can Damian Lillard Repeat?

The odds are tight for this year’s three-point contest. Every player has odds of +400 or, at worst, +750. After Karl-Anthony Towns added a +1000 win a couple of years ago, the books aren’t dropping those odds again.

Last year, Damian Lillard beat out Buddy Hield and Tyrese Haliburton for the 2023 title. He nailed 26 in the first round, which was enough to put him into the final three with Hield and Haliburton.

Haliburton had 31 makes in the first round, while Hield added 23.

Lillard didn’t even have the best first-round score, but he had the most stamina to close it all out.

Lillard initially said he would retire from the event after winning it. He had attempted to win the contest for multiple years but finally earned a title. He acknowledged that the best shooters in the game ultimately have this award on their showcase. After he won, he said he was in the same conversation as the best shooters in the game.

But the NBA obviously persuaded him to come back. He’s got the highest probability of winning the award again. If he adds another contest win, he’ll really stand out as one of the best shooters in the game.

Still, it’s rare for players to win the award in consecutive years. He’s been a part of this contest for multiple years and only has one. So keep that in mind. He’s only won 33% of the contests he’s participated in for the three-point contest.

Does Tyrese Haliburton Have Value?

Tyrese Haliburton ran out of gas last year. But now the Indiana guard is playing in front of his home fans in Indiana.

Last year, he began the contest with 31 threes. However, he only finished with 17 in the finals against Lillard and Hield.

This NBA season, Haliburton is shooting just under 40% from three. If the fans and just being home can give Haliburton that extra push, at +450, Haliburton would be a solid look.

We know Haliburton can put up a 30-point round since he did it last year. He just can’t run out of stamina this year.

What About Karl-Anthony Towns?

Nobody ever expects a forward/center to win this contest. However, Karl-Anthony Towns stunned many NBA fans when he won the title in 2022.

He became one of the tallest players to ever win the award at 6-foot-11. In the contest, he was the only “big” one of the participants. He faced CJ McCollum, Trae Young, Zach LaVine, Desmond Bane, Fred VanVleet, Luke Kennard, and Patty Mills.

Yet, Towns won and beat out all of those guards.

Towns acknowledged that he had called the NBA multiple times to participate. When he finally got the opportunity, he didn’t disappoint. Now that he won, the NBA called him back for this year’s contest.

However, he’s not the only “big” in the contest this time. Because of his success, the NBA added Lauri Markkanen to the participant list.

Towns is shooting 43.7% from deep this season, the best he’s ever shot in a single season from downtown. In his career, which started in 2015, Towns has shot 40% from three on 2,402 three-pointers attempted.

The Minnesota big has had legitimate success shooting the three-ball in the NBA and in the contest. He has the opportunity to win the second three-point contest of his career. That would really make some noise.

Jalen Brunson Wants To Beat Julius Randle

Jalen Brunson is a true winner. He’s added multiple championships in college and is now a star player for the Knicks, averaging nearly 28 points per game.

When asked about the three-point contest via the TNT Basketball Crew, Brunson joked that he just wanted to beat Randle’s score of 13 in the first round last year.

On Thursday, Brunson also told the TNT crew that he wouldn’t participate unless he were an actual All-Star. So now that he’s an All-Star for the East, he’ll join in this event.

He should beat Randle’s score of 13. He said he’s practiced multiple times with racks to prepare for this event.

Off the court, it always feels like he’s a jokester and doesn’t take things seriously. But when the basketball is in his hands, everything flips. He becomes a fierce competitor. You probably can’t go wrong with betting on Brunson at +700. He’s an underdog in almost everything and always finds a way. Just look at the NBA standings after the first half of the season.

Other competitors who have NBA odds in the NBA 3-Point Contest 2024 include Malik Beasley, Trae Young, Lauri Markkanen, and Donovan Mitchell.

Young has made it into the top three before. At +700, that’s not a terrible look. However, he’ll also be involved in the skills competition, so he could get a little tired, especially if he makes it into the top three.

After reviewing all the odds and bets NBA players have, we believe the odds are pretty on point with how this contest will go. It’s up to you to decide which angle you like the most. Go with your gut, and don’t wager too much. Just enjoy the show!
