Eastern Conference Play-In Implications, Heat Take On Hawks

Heat vs Hawks Spreads, Matchup and More

Heat vs Hawks spreads opened at Miami -2.5 with a total of 221.5.

The Hawks are currently the tenth seed in the East and are a long shot from moving either up or down

in the standings. The Heat are now the seventh seed, tied in losses with the sixth-seed Indiana Pacers and only a half-game ahead of the Philadelphia 76ers.

The Hawks are coming off two straight losses, following a strong stretch of winning six of seven games. They are now 6-4 in their last ten games and are 5-5 against the spread in those games.

The Heat lost a heartbreaker to the Pacers on Sunday, dropping them out of the regular playoff seeding into the Play-In Tournament. Miami is 6-4 in its last ten games (five wins in its last seven) and is 5-5 against the spread in those games.

Neither of these teams is playing for a top seed in the NBA playoff standings, but seeding matters, and Miami will be gunning for every win they can get.

Heat vs Hawks spreads are in, we will take a look at the NBA starting lineups, NBA rumors, and some player props to find some good bets.

I’ll Be Your Herro Baby

Tyler Herro is once again suiting up for the Miami Heat. After missing 20 games with a hyperextended left knee and tendinitis in his right foot, Herro has been back for Miami’s last two games, and the timing couldn’t be better.

The Heat have been surviving well enough in Herro’s absence, going 23-17 in games he has missed this season. They had a strong win in Houston in his return, and Herro dropped 21 points in the Heat’s last game against the Pacers.

Along with Herro’s 21 points, they had a strong showing from Jimmy Butler (27 points, seven rebounds, seven assists) and a late comeback attempt, Miami couldn’t beat a determined Pacers squad led by Myles Turner (22 points, 13 rebounds).

With Herro back in the mix for the Heat’s offense, someone will need to sacrifice some offensive load. Terry Rozier, who has come on as of late while Herro had been sidelined, seems to be the person who has had to give up shots in Herro’s return.

After scoring over 20 points in four straight games, Rozier has posted 13 points and four points in the Heat’s last two games. Take a look at Rozier’s points prop bet on Tuesday. If oddsmakers are still pricing Rozier at pre-Herro numbers, the under could be a great bet.

Hawks Clinched

After last Wednesday’s win against the Detroit Pistons, the Hawks have clinched a spot in this year’s Play-In Tournament. Although this season has not gone how the Hawks would have liked, the Heat showed us last year that a spot in the Play-In is maybe all the opportunity a team needs to make a run.

In their last game, despite a valiant effort from Clint Capela with 19 points, the Hawks fell victim to Denver’s potent offense, including a season-high 58 points from the Nuggets‘ bench.

The Hawks got double-digit scoring efforts from six different players on their roster. Although it didn’t work against the defending champion Nuggets, they will need a group effort again on Tuesday to fight Miami.

Miami Isn’t Satisfied

Heat vs Hawks spreads opened with Miami -2.5, slight favorites on the road. This spread makes sense given the Heat’s recent success against Atlanta and the fact that their games still have real playoff seeding implications.

The Heat have won seven of their last ten matchups with the Hawks and have gone 5-5 against the spread. The Heat won their first two matchups with Atlanta this season, and the Hawks took the third in a narrow 109-108 victory.

In their last game, Dejounte Murray spoiled the Miami Heat legend Udonis Haslem’s jersey retirement night with a game-winning three-pointer at the buzzer. Atlanta overcame a late deficit with key free throws from Bogdanovic and Murray’s clutch shot. The win snapped Miami’s 22-game home winning streak against Southeast Division opponents and ended their perfect divisional record for the season.

We like the Heat to redeem themselves and win and likely cover in the ATL on Tuesday.
