Grizzlies vs Spurs Betting, Matchup and More

Grizzlies vs Spurs betting lines have opened at San Antonio -3.5 and a total of 223. Let’s look at some Grizzlies vs Spurs betting information and see if we can find an edge.

The Memphis Grizzlies will arrive in San Antonio Friday in what will be a battle of old Southwest Conference rivals. Although neither of these teams is at their peak of old, this could be a fun display of young talent from two teams who are likely ready for next season to start.

Both these teams lay at the bottom of all NBA Power Rankings, The Grizzlies are sitting at 13th seed in the Western Conference and the Spurs are bringing up the rear at 15th. When two

The Grizzlies have had an up-and-down season (mainly down). They finally will have two of their young talented core, Jaren Jackson Jr and Desmond Bane. In just those two NBA players, Memphis has a lot more winning experience than most of the Spurs roster.

Memphis Still Relentless

The Grizzlies started the season fighting an uphill battle. Their franchise star, Ja Morant, was suspended 25 games by the NBA to start the season for breaking the cardinal rule, don’t play with guns. From there everything went downhill with injuries piling up to almost every key player in their lineup in a season that most Grizzlies fans will be ready to put behind them.

Uncover Exclusive Picks & Predictions From Our Experts.

What remains has been a random assortment of flier rookies, ten-day contracts, and rotation guys needing to step up. On a positive note, they have found at least one gem in the rough in GG Jackson.

GG has shouldered some scoring load recently scoring an average of 17.4 points in the last ten games. As of Wednesday GG has gone over on his points total in four of his last six games.

Grizzlies fans can cheer a little bit louder now that their franchise shooting guard, Desmond Bane, has returned from injury. Bane re-entered the lineup a couple of games ago and picked up where he left off, scoring over 20 points in both games.

He was a bit inefficient shooting which can be expected, but against the San Antonio Spurs and their bottom ten defense post all-star break, he may be poised for a big night.

Wembanyama is Already a Superstar

Victor Wembanyama has already lived up to the hype. Though he took a little bit to settle into the NBA style, he has been dominant since the all-star break. Victor Wembanyama has averaged 21.3 points, 11.8 rebounds, and 4.8 blocks (!!!) since the All-Star break.

For a rookie to be putting up these numbers and being second in NBA odds to win Defensive Player of the Year is unheard of.

Wemby is already averaging a double-double as a rookie, and we don’t expect Friday’s game to be any different. The Grizzlies are bottom five in rebounding percentage and have nobody even near the size of Wembanyama. Wemby has gone over his rebounding prop total in six of his last eight games.

Wembanyama has also been swatting everything of late. He has gone over on his blocks prop in five of his last eight games and has six and seven blocks in his last two games. The Grizzlies are also the second most blocked team in the NBA so that is another over-trend that could continue Friday.

Bad Teams Are Unpredictable

Neither of these teams needs to worry about NBA playoffs schedules or NBA finals odds. This game is probably one that both of these teams would benefit from losing.

That being said, the Spurs have been playing their best basketball since the all-star break (up to 18th in offensive rating and 20th in defensive rating) behind Wembanyama’s ascent. Memphis on the other hand has been the league’s worst offense all season but is almost a top-ten defense. They now have Desmond Bane back, who will surely be an offensive boost.

Grizzlies vs Spurs betting lines have opened at Spurs -3.5. Memphis is 5-5 against the spread in their last ten and the Spurs are 7-3. Figuring out who to bet on in a game between two tanking NBA teams is extremely difficult because it is hard to know who on either team could show up.

Memphis getting 3.5 points is certainly enticing, but we suggest finding some props you like and riding with those for this one.
