Few players can dictate a college basketball game like North Carolina’s Armando Bacot. The college basketball stats show he’s the second-leading scorer for the Tar Heels and the team leader in rebounds and blocks.
North Carolina struggles when he’s not on his game. In three of the Tar Heels’ four losses this NCAAB season, Bacot scored in single digits. The Tar Heels are also 8-0 when he scores 15 or more points in a game. The Armando Bacot stats don’t necessarily show his true value to the team.
One of the biggest knocks against Bacot is that he doesn’t get involved in the offense enough. That wasn’t the case on Saturday in the Tar Heels’ 93-84 victory over the Duke Blue Devils. Bacot matched his season highs in points with 25 and assists with five. He also grabbed 10 rebounds.
His 13 shot attempts were the most since North Carolina’s first two games of the season. He made 10 field goals and was 5-of-7 at the free throw line. Bacot also was a big reason in why the Tar Heels covered the college basketball point spreads in the game.
Diminishing Returns

That’s going to make it tougher on Bacot to get drafted and get a chance to play in the NBA. The only problem is Bacot averaged 16.3 points and 13.1 rebounds per game in 2021-22 and 15.9 points and 10.4 rebounds a year ago. He isn’t moving the direction you want to see for a player set to graduate. He will need to pick-up the offense down the stretch. As good as he is, he’s a bit of a longshot for the NBA right now. But there’s still time to impress the right people.
For his career, the Armando Bacot stats show 13.7 points per game and 10.1 rebounds. He’s shown a habit of elevating his game when it matters most. In seven NCAAB Tournament games, Bacot is averaging 15.3 points and 14.7 rebounds. He also has enjoyed more success at home. Throughout his career, Bacot has averaged 14.8 points and 10.4 rebounds per game at home. On the road, he’s scoring 12.3 points with 9.3 rebounds per game.
