Can Temple Finally Escape With Another Conference Win?

The Memphis vs. Temple Odds Have Some Value In The Total

The Memphis Tigers finally ended a four-game losing streak with a home win against Wichita State. The Tigers began the American Conference on a six-game winning streak and won four NCAAB games to stretch the streak to ten games.

However, after losses to South Florida, Tulane, UAB, and Rice, Memphis is no longer a lock to make the NCAA Tournament despite their streak of ten straight wins.

Uncover Exclusive Picks & Predictions From Our Experts.

The Tigers will now hit the road to take on Temple Owls, who are 8-14 on the year and 1-8 in conference play. Ironically enough, the only conference win for Temple this season was against Wichita State.

Memphis can’t afford to lose a game like this if they want to make the NCAA Tournament.

The Tigers are -6.5 on the road, with the total currently at 149.

Let’s take a deeper look into the Memphis vs Temple odds below.

Memphis vs Temple Odds & Trends

While Memphis is 16-6 on the year, the Tigers have lost four of their last five games. The Tigers are also 7-15 against the spread this season but have gone 5-3 on the road this year.

Memphis has also hit the Under in 15 of 22 games this season.

On the other hand, Temple is 4-5 at home. The Owls are also 7-12-2 against the spread and have hit the Under in 11 of 21 games this season.

Temple hasn’t defeated Memphis since 2019. The Memphis Tigers have added five consecutive wins and have gone 3-1-1 against the spread in those games.

Cloudy Vision

The Memphis Tigers have been dealing with many distractions throughout the season. That’s ultimately why the four-game losing streak happened for Memphis over the last few weeks.

Head coach Penny Hardaway doesn’t like outside influences and believes those outsiders started to take away from what was essential to this NCAAB team.

Some fans believe they’d play better with a shortened rotation.

Meanwhile, Hardaway is still optimistic for the rest of the season. The win against the Shockers could get Memphis back on track.

Temple’s Improving

The record speaks for itself.

The Temple Owls haven’t played good basketball this season. At 8-14 and with just one conference win this year, the Owls won’t be playing anything important in mid-March.

However, the Owls have improved recently. The losing streak reached seven on the road against Tulane. However, Temple pushed Tulane and Eastern Carolina into overtime on the road in its last two games.

The Temple Owls couldn’t complete the wins. That’s ultimately the next step in the development of the program. However, the last four losses have either finished as one-digit or a game that went overtime.

Temple is playing well enough to stay in games. The confidence would start to rise with a win against Memphis.

Temple Could Be Sneaky On The Glass

The Temple Owls have shot poorly from the field. They’ve shot an effective field goal percentage of 44%, which ranks 352nd in college basketball.

They’ve been embarrassing on the offensive end, with 29.6% from three and 43.7% from inside the arc.

However, the offense is starting to play better, and they’ll take on a Memphis defense that allows 33.3% of offensive rebounds this NCAAB season.

With second chances and more shot attempts, the Owls should see the ball go through the hoop more frequently. After all, Temple has added 29.8% of offensive rebounds per game this year. They’ve also turned the ball over just 14.8% of the time.

Again, while the shot-making is inefficient, the few turnovers and high offensive rebounding rate help them take more shots, which, in turn, helps the Owls put more points on the board.

Meanwhile, Memphis has shot 35.3% from deep and 52.5% from inside the arc. The Tigers have also added 32.9% of offensive rebounds but have turned the ball over 18.6% of the time.

Temple could sneak in more turnovers than Memphis, especially at home. That would allow Temple some quick and easy fast break points. But when the Owls don’t earn turnovers, Memphis should put on a shooting clinic.

The Owls have allowed teams to shoot 33.3% from three but 51.2% from inside the arc this season. On top of that, the Owls foul at a high rate and struggle on the defensive glass.

The NCAA Basketball results for the Owls haven’t been good on offense throughout the season. But things have changed recently, after 80 points in an overtime loss to Tulane.

Therefore, after reviewing the college basketball lines, our NCAAB bet predictions have the Over 149 as the play.

The Memphis vs Temple odds aren’t high enough with the total. Grab the Over 149 (-110).
