Cowboys Riding High After ‘Bedlam’ Upset

Oklahoma State vs UCF Betting Lines See Cowboys Favored

The Oklahoma State Cowboys look to keep their winning ways going when they visit UCF on Saturday afternoon. The Cowboys shot into the NCAAF Teams Standing at No. 22 after upsetting Oklahoma in the last scheduled ‘Bedlam’ rivalry game. The teams aren’t scheduled to meet in the near future with the Sooners leaving for the Southeastern Conference. But before the Cowboys worry about a possible future date with Oklahoma, they have to worry about a UCF team that is coming off its first Big 12 Conference win. At 4-5 on the NCAAF season, the Knights have to win two of their final three games for a bowl berth. It’s entirely possible with their remaining schedule. The Oklahoma St vs UCF betting lines have Oklahoma State -3 and the total on the game is at 64.5 points.

Cowboys Gunning For 10 Victories

Oklahoma State moved to 7-2 straight-up and 6-3 against the point spread by defeating Oklahoma. The Cowboys could very well sweep the remaining college football schedule and finish 10-2. The Cowboys and Texas are atop of the Big 12 standings at 5-1. There are five teams who are 4-2, so the Cowboys can also clinch a berth in the Big 12 Championship game and possibly land one of the big bowl games.

The Cowboys are averaging 30.7 points against teams which allow 24.1 points per game. The running attack has a lot to do with that, with Oklahoma State gaining 181 yards per game on the ground and an average of 5.5 yards per carry. The Cowboys throw for 254.6 yards per game.

Oklahoma State allows 24.3 points to teams averaging 28.3 points. The Cowboys give up a number of yards, but have managed to keep teams from scoring pretty well. Oklahoma State allows 418.7 yards to teams averaging 416 yards per game. So the defense is pretty average in that regard. The Cowboys are a little better against the run.

Knights Finally Get Big 12 Victory

It took UCF six games, but the Knights finally broke into the win column in conference play with a 28-26 win at Cincinnati last week. UCF had come close on several occasions, but had come up just short. There’s no question the Cowboys are going to be a tougher challenge. But UCF is traditionally a pretty solid home team.

The Knights are scoring 32.8 points per game against teams allowing 28.8 points. UCF likes to run the ball, rushing 40 times and throwing 28 per game. The Knights run for 227.1 yards and pass for 256.6, so UCF can move the ball. UCF hasn’t always taken advantage of its opportunities, which has hurt the Knights on a few occasions this season.

Defensively, UCF is pretty average defending the pass. But the Knights have allowed some yardage on the ground, where they allow 213 yards and 5.2 yards per carry. UCF is allowing 29.4 points per game to teams scoring 27.6, so the defense will have to pick it up for this one.

What to Expect

Oklahoma State should enter the game with the mindset of running the ball a little more often than usual. The Knights haven’t shown they can stop the rush on a consistent basis, but are decent against the pass. That will also keep the UCF offense off the field and the Knights are going to score. For UCF, it’s a question of how many points they’re going to allow.

The Knights haven’t really changed their gameplan regardless of who they’re playing and that will be the case once again. CF is going to make you show you can stop its running game and then mix in some passes when you start to worry about the run too much.

The Oklahoma St vs UCF betting lines are taking into account the Cowboys are coming off a big emotional victory over Oklahoma. The NCAAF lines today have the Cowboys -3 and that is a bit low. The Sagarin college football rankings have Oklahoma State 7.5 points better on a neutral field. That would have them closer to 4.5-point favorites here. But the sportsbook knows it will get some UCF wagers on the basis of an Oklahoma State letdown.

Who to Bet On?

The Oklahoma St vs UCF betting lines have a solid number at Cowboys -3. You can build a case for both teams, which should help split the money coming in. Both teams have plenty to play for, so effort shouldn’t be a problem, even for Oklahoma State. But it’s still tough to use the Cowboys in your college football picks and parlays coming off such a big win.

At 64.5 points, the total is the highest Oklahoma State has played to this season. The Knights have had one game with a higher total. It’s a tough call, but both teams are capable of scoring close to 40 points, so will play the over 64.5.
