The Jacksonville Jaguars have been playing well, mostly thanks to Player of the Week: Trevor Lawrence.

He had his season-best performance against the Tennessee Titans last week, which was enough to see the Jaguars win 34-14.

Bounce Back Performance

Following a shocking 34-3 loss to the San Francisco 49ers, where Lawrence had no touchdowns and two interceptions, a bounce back was needed.

Cometh the hour, cometh the man. Lawrence went 24-32 for 262 yards and two touchdowns. He was the best of the Jacksonville Jaguars players, and his player rating of 119.5 was the best of the bunch.

Being sacked only once, compared to five times against the 49ers, made a huge difference. Having time to throw in the pocket is a key to success for any quarterback, and it has an impact on the Jaguars’ NFL standings.

“That’s one of the cleaner games offensively we’ve played,” Lawrence said. “Seemed like we stayed on schedule, seemed like we kept them on their heels. We did a great job of mixing up all the different shots, getting it out quick, running the ball movements, all that.”

Player of the Week: Trevor Lawrence, is a fitting title for the improving quarterback. He is still only 24 years old, and he’s getting better with every week.

Controlling the Game

Lawrence hasn’t been going for big yardage, but he’s controlling the game nicely.

That’s what the Jaguars need to continue winning, and as reflected with NFL odds this week, they’re expected to have more success.

He hasn’t thrown for more than 294 yards over his last five games, but the Jaguars have never succeeded with quarterbacks who are flashy.

Lawrence does what he needs to do to win, much like Jalen Hurts for the Philadelphia Eagles.

He averaged 8.2 yards per throw last week. That’s a fantastic statistic, especially with his longest play going for 34 yards.

He’s picking up first downs consistently and moving the sticks. It allows the Jaguars to control the pace of the game and give the defense plenty of rest.

No Media Attention

When Lawrence first entered the NFL, there was plenty of media attention around the top pick from Clemson.

That attention has all but dissipated over the last couple of years, but it hasn’t been his fault. He’s only as good as the players around him, and now he has some decent players in the squad.

Not having the media pressure is why he’s starting to perform at a high level. He can focus on winning and not needing to have a standout game.

We wouldn’t be surprised to see Player of the Week: Trevor Lawrence feature again, especially with the Jaguars upcoming schedule.

All going well, we could be seeing the Jaguars in the playoffs, where they could go under the radar and have success.
