The Atlanta Falcons will head into a season with somebody not named Matt Ryan as the starting quarterback for the first time since 2008. That is certainly being reflected in the Atlanta Falcons future betting odds.
Marcus Mariota figures to start the 2022 season as the No. 1 quarterback. The development of rookie Desmond Ridder will decide how long he remains the starter.

Marcus Mariota has thrown 30 passes in the regular season over the last two seasons so it is uncertain what he will be able to do as he gets another chance to be a starting quarterback in the NFL.
Mariota had a fairly solid second NFL season with the Tennessee Titans as he threw 26 touchdown passes and had just nine interceptions. However, he has 24 TDs and 23 interceptions in the next two seasons.
Will the Falcons Turn to Rookie Desmond Ridder?
The Falcons have turned to a rookie quarterback before as Ryan went 11-5 as a rookie starter in 2008. The difference is that Ryan was the third overall pick in the draft while Ridder was picked in the third round.
When looking at the Atlanta Falcons stats, Ridder has completed just 57% of his passes in the first two preseason games and that’s not going to get it done. He has been drawing praise for his work in practice. He certainly had plenty of opportunities to play when he was a star at Cincinnati.
Will the Falcons be Running on Empty?
Perhaps there will come a time when the Falcons add a franchise running back to the roster. However, it is looking once again like Atlanta
Cordarrelle Patterson is an intriguing talent. However, he is more of a receiver doing his best to adapt to the running back position than being a natural between the tackles runner. BYU’s Tyler Allgeier was added in the draft while veteran Damien Williams is on his fourth NFL team in five years. Only Houston averaged fewer rushing yards per game than the Falcons in 2021 and the ability or inability to establish the run will play a role in the Atlanta Falcon’s future betting odds.

London (+1400) is tied for the eighth-best odds to win the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year award. There might not be a rookie in a better situation since the outside receiver position is in disarray.

There were high hopes for Pitts when he was taken with the fourth overall pick in the 2021 draft. He did not disappoint with a 1,000-yard receiver as a rookie.
While there are questions at the quarterback position, another big season is expected from Pitts. Will he average 15 yards per reception again? That might be asking a lot. However, the Falcons figure to be playing from behind during the 2022 season and that will mean more passing and less running.
Pitts is already one of the best pass-catching tight ends in the NFL and it is exciting to see what is next for him. It won’t be long before the NFL future odds project Pitts to top the NFL in some categories at the tight end position.
