A Power Shortage in Vancouver

Vancouver led the NHL with 136 goals, 3.78 goals per game, and a goal differential of +44 during the first three months of the season. However, it has been more of a grind recently.

Vancouver is 22nd in the NHL team stats with 2.77 goals per game since the start of March as the Edmonton Oilers have cut six points off Vancouver’s Pacific Division lead. That could factor into the  Canucks vs Coyotes odds

The 6-3 loss to Vegas was just the second time in the 13 games that a Vancouver game finished over the total.

Brock Boeser (three goals in 13 games), Elias Lindholm (one goal in nine games), and defenseman Filip Hronek (two points in 13 games) are among the Vancouver players struggling to produce points right now.

The total has gone under in 10 of Vancouver’s last 13 games.

Goals Coming At a Fast and Furious Pace

Recent Arizona games have not been boring with 39 goals scored in the last four contests.

Arizona went from scoring eight times in an upset of Nashville to surrendering eight goals in a home loss to the Rangers.

It was the fifth time in the last 13 games that the Coyotes have allowed at least five goals as only six teams have allowed more goals per game since Mar. 5 than the Coyotes. Keep that in mind when looking at the Canucks vs Coyotes odds.

Clayton Keller leads the Coyotes with 10 goals with eight coming at even strength over the last 13 games while Nick Schmaltz has team-best marks of 14 assists and 17 points during that stretch.

The total has gone over in four of Arizona’s last six games.

Last Meeting

Elias Pettersson and Dakota Joshua scored goals while Thatcher Demko stopped 20 of 21 shots in a 2-1 home win on Jan. 18. It was the third time in the last four meetings between the teams to land under the total. Three of those four games between the Coyotes and the Canucks have been decided by one goal.

This will be the first of two games in a span of a week as the teams wrap up the season series on April 10.
