The Ottawa Senators picked up a very important pair of points on Monday night, beating the Pittsburgh Penguins 2-1 thanks in part by a 48-save performance from goaltender Dylan Ferguson, who made his first career National Hockey League start, five years after making a brief appearance with the Vegas Golden Knights back in their inaugural 2017-18 season.

Forward Drake Batherson and defenseman Thomas Chabot scored for the Senators while blue-liner Brian Dumoulin scored the lone tally for Pittsburgh, who have now lost four straight games and with the Florida Panthers picking up a win in regulation over the Detroit Red Wings, the Penguins would be out of the postseason if the regular season ended today with 78 points. Ottawa has now earned at least a point in each of their last two games and snapped a ten-game losing streak at PPG Paints Arena with the victory.
