NHL Thursdays Games: Odds and Analysis
Big 12-Game Slate Brings the Action; We Sort the Best Betting Options
Your Thursday betting card features the favorite odds to win Stanley Cup when the Seattle Kraken (24-12-4, 52 points) land in Beantown to take on the scorching-hot Boston Bruins (32-4-4, 68 points). The Bruins still have not suffered a regulation loss on home ice (19-0-3). The first-place Dallas Stars (25-11-6, 56 points) are in New York to face the New York Rangers (23-12-7, 53 points). The Rangers trail Carolina by four points in the Metro. Let’s go deeper into tonight’s games followed by all of our NHL picks on tonight’s NHL Thursdays Games Odds
Must-Watch Television
It’s our opinion that this will be one of the best games to watch this season. The Bruins, who are clearly the best team in hockey, will take on a Kraken team that has won six straight games and is likely excited to see where they stand against the league’s best.
Boston opened up as a -205 favorite, but with the public riding that undefeated home streak, the number has moved to -240 with 85% of the early tickets coming in on the B’s. Boston will be the more rested of the two, four days since their 7-1 beatdown of the Anaheim Ducks.
Jim Montgomery’s team is 27-8 when coming off two or more days rest, and 7-4 when getting three or more. This is a match-up of the two most profitable teams against the moneyline with Boston handing over 1102 units, while the Kraken is right behind with 1046 units.
We suggest that the over 6.5 (even) is the play here with this being the most entertaining game of the NHL Thursdays Games Odds
Things are getting interesting in the Metro Division where the New York Rangers have crept up on the rest of the division to make their intentions of closing the gap known after closing the gap to just four points on the back of a seven-game point streak. Over the last month, the Rangers have been among the top five in money won with 302 units behind a 9-4 record. The Stars are ninth in that span with 166 units won (9-5).
New York’s unbeaten streak is now at six games and they are 12-2-2 in their last 16. Bettors should take note of the way the Rangers stole points away from the Minnesota Wild, Tuesday, in their 4-3 shootout win. It’s always good to keep track of teams who come from behind on the road against the better teams in the league.
Come playoff time you want to know which teams have the guts to go deep when facing certain adversity. It also doesn’t hurt to know which teams are reliable wagers when facing a deficit if ‘in-game wagering’ is your thing. We don’t have an official opinion on this game but it will surely be entertaining to watch.
The Detroit Redwings are coming off a 7-5 win against the Winnipeg Jets after losing three straight. That doesn’t mean that head coach Derek Lalonde was happy with their effort after making a point in his post-game presser to say that this was one of the team’s worst performances, especially in the defensive end where there were too many lapses in their defensive structure.
Toronto has beaten the Wings in both of their meetings this season and three straight overall. The Leafs may still be without Auston Matthews who didn’t play against Nashville. His injury was not revealed but his absence would make a difference in who to place your money behind tonight. Toronto is a -145 road favorite after opening at -180. Again, another game that will be entertaining to watch but not one we’ll be putting our money on.

Florida Panthers at Vegas Golden Knights
Date, Time & Streaming:
NHL Over/Under: Panthers +105, 16-22/ Knights -125, 6.5
Bruce Cassidy pushed the “worst effort of the season” button after the Knights dropped a lethargic effort against the Los Angeles Kings, 5-1. This is always interesting to us from a betting perspective because these tricks often give us clues as to what type of team we’re putting our money behind.
Coaches often pull the disappointment card right before they go on a public tirade. It’s a way to test the loyalty of a team and to see what kind of guts they have. This number looks a little strange considering no one is overpriced more at home than vegas, but they are the better team at this point and the side to play.

Ottawa Senators at at Arizona Coyotes

NHL Over/Under: Senators 23-17 ATS, 14-26 / Coyotes 21-19 ATS, 21-19
This match-up is so lackluster that TSN was compelled to put it on their fifth option of programming. Arizona has lost six straight games, mostly because their power play has been non-existent in games they could have grabbed a multiple-goal lead with a successful man advantage. We recommend playing the over 6.5 tonight.
That does it for our NHL Hockey match-up analysis and picks. All the best tonight as we hit the midway point of the season.
