Everything That Has Gone Down So Far in the 2024 F1 Preseason
From Lewis Hamilton’s Move to Ferrari and Christian Horner’s Impending Future at Red Bull and Everything in Between

WTF Is Going On???
I know, I know, keeping up with the F1 news in February has been more challenging than stopping Max Verstappen from winning a race in the 2023 F1 season.
Honestly, I don’t know where to start. So, instead, let’s look at everything that has gone down during the Formula One preseason, most of which has occurred over the past two weeks.

Has Horner Been Acting a Little Horny?
Well, we may as well begin with the most depressing and dramatic F1 news of 2024, and it involves Red Bull Racing team principal Christian Horner.
Christian Horner is scheduled to meet with a barrister appointed by Red Bull Racing’s parent company to oversee an impartial, external inquiry. This meeting comes in the wake of allegations this week that implicate his controlling and inappropriate behavior toward a female colleague.
It was stressful times for Horner, to say the least, and should the F1 rumors shine any light on the situation, he could be completely removed from Formula One altogether.

Andretti Racing Team to F1… Nope!
The F1 schedule, to the disarray of US fans, won’t be seeing a new team in the next two years. F1 declined the bid of the American Andretti team to join the sport but has indicated the possibility of entry starting in 2028.
The FIA, the regulatory body, had approved Andretti’s debut. However, F1, the commercial rights holders, thought the plan for participation in either 2025 or 2026 was inadequate.
F1 performed a study that included important individuals or groups involved and concluded that adding an 11th team would not provide any significant benefits.
Listen, America; you’ve already received two Formula 1 races on the F1 calendar; slow your role.
I’m only joking; I actually think it’s quite a disgrace, especially when 50% of the current teams barely add value to F1 anyway.

Legal Disputes Everywhere
You’d be wrong if you thought Christian Horner was the only one suffering from legal complications and his uncertain future!
In light of the recent arrest of former Singaporean transport minister S. Iswaran, the government plans to reevaluate its involvement with Formula 1. A cloud has been put over the esteemed motor racing event by the allegations leveled against Iswaran, calling into doubt the integrity of the contracts at play.
And that isn’t all…
Because of the sponsorship agreement with the cryptocurrency gambling business, the Swiss government is investigating Sauber Motorsport’s Stake F1 Team.
With gambling advertising regulations in some countries, the team’s rebranding hasn’t been well-received by all *cough* Switzerland *cough*, which is adding stress to Sauber’s pre-season preparations.
Lewis Hamilton Joins Ferrari
This is, without a doubt, the most significant development in Formula One over the last decade; it has completely altered the game. Lewis Hamilton will join Ferrari in 2025 after leaving Mercedes at the conclusion of the current season.
Mercedes F1 will be saying farewell to Hamilton as the record-breaking multi-time British F1 champion discovered a fetish for red; let’s hope he likes a touch of carbon as well.

Carbon Fiber Everywhere!
In keeping with the current trend in Formula One design—a lack of bright colors and an abundance of visible carbon fiber—McLaren was the first team of many to reveal its livery in preparation for the 2024 season, which has fans depressed over the morbid rainbow.
The car’s weight is the most apparent motivation for this, but the result is a much more subdued grid compared to past seasons.
On the “bright” side, it isn’t illegal; nobody’s lost a valuable team member, and complete rejection wasn’t involved.
Oh, and the memes have been great.
