Medvedev’s Next-Day Win at Wimbledon

The Showdown for the Medvedev Wimbledon Win Resumes

Sunny morning at Wimbledon. Daniil Medvedev, the mighty third seed, didn’t waste any time. He only needed five games to secure his victory against Adrian Mannarino, the talented French tennis ace. The tennis match’s score? A straight sweep of 6-3, 6-3, 7-6 (7-5). Game, Set, Match!

The tennis game, which started yesterday, was on a brief pause due to fading light but got back on track today. Last night, Medvedev, not wanting to continue the tennis match due to the fading light, claimed a ‘real injury’. “Of course it’s a real injury, For me, it’s real… Me? I hurt my adductor,” he insisted to the chair umpire. Either way, both tennis players agreed that there wasn’t enough light to continue and put away their stuff for the night.

No Playing Under the Night Sky

The day before, with Medvedev leading 6-3, 6-3, 4-4, the Wimbledon matchup game had paused as darkness descended on the All England Lawn Tennis Club. Despite the pause, Medvedev wasn’t worried about his veteran opponent, Mannarino, who was proving to be a worthy opponent, especially with their recent encounter on the grass of ‘s-Hertogenbosch.

Despite Medvedev showing an impressive play from the get-go, Mannarino didn’t shy away from the challenge. In fact, he came back in the final set, pushing Medvedev to pull out his defensive artillery in a 7-5 tiebreaker.

Medvedev’s Secret Sauce

Medvedev, sharing his thoughts and ritual on the win, said, “I remember losing a similar match a couple of years ago. This time, I decided not to treat the match as finished until it truly was – I didn’t even wash my hair, but I did take a shower.” Looks like this new ritual worked wonders for clinching that Medvedev Wimbledon win.

Next Steps Up

Up next, Medvedev might be playing against either Marton Fucsovics or Marcos Giron in the third round. Current tennis betting predictions favor Fucsovics, who’s currently two sets ahead on Court 9.

Yet Medvedev has yet to lose a set this fortnight. He opened his campaign with a straight-sets win against home favorite Arthur Fery on Wednesday and will hope to keep his perfect run alive when he returns to the court for a third straight day.

Wimbledon is the only tennis major tournament where Medvedev hasn’t advanced to at least the quarter-finals. Will this be his year for the ultimate Medvedev Wimbledon win?
