BetMGM and Marriott Partnership Breaks New Ground

Collaboration Allows Gamblers to Earn Free Hotel Stays

Marriott International and MGM Resorts International have been been longtime collaborators. It started with their agreement at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas and was bolstered by the “MGM Collection With Marriott Bonvoy” agreement in October 2023.

The two are taking it up another notch with the announcement of a BetMGM and Marriott partnership. This will allow BetMGM sportsbook or BetMGM online casino players to link their account with their Marriott Bonvoy accounts. Players can convert BetMGM Rewards points into Marriott Bonvoy points.

The Marriott Bonvoy points can be used for a variety of things, including free stays at Marriott Bonvoy hotels.

“This landmark collaboration between Marriott Bonvoy and BetMGM goes beyond hospitality and gaming, unlocking new opportunities for members to ignite their passions and deepen connections with the people and places they love,” said Peggy Roe, Executive Vice President and Chief Customer Officer, Marriott International. “We are excited to welcome BetMGM members with more global access to more than 30 hotel brands,10,000 locations and a growing portfolio of exclusive and curated member experiences including sports, music, art, and culinary events around the world.”

The BetMGM and Marriott partnership will also provide access to exclusive games and offers on BetMGM website or app.

“The collaboration with Marriott Bonvoy is a monumental differentiator for us,” said BetMGM CEO Adam Greenblatt. “This partnership will extend our brand to millions of potential new customers while offering our players the unique benefit of utilizing their gameplay to tap into the world of Marriott Bonvoy’s unrivaled portfolio of experiences.”

Raising the Bar on Partnerships

The BetMGM and Marriott partnership is for sports bettors who live in licensed states. A maximum of 100,000 Marriott Bonvoy points can be earned per year. Under a microscope, the partnership is one that makes good business sense. Marriott Bonvoy has numerous locations in Las Vegas, Reno and Atlantic City.

Somebody using rewards points from their gambling activities is more likely to want to vacation at a casino resort. If not, Marriott Bonvoy has plenty of establishments in other locations, but the player will have a choice.

The agreement also helps set the groundwork for more partnerships betting the gambling community and retail establishments. In the competitive world of online betting, partnerships could be a big boost for the casino or sportsbook. Sports betting is now more mainstream than ever.

Businesses don’t have to worry that an association with a sportsbook could be bad for business. There could be a few customers upset, however, they are going to be in the minority. Don’t be surprised to see more partnerships between iGaming companies and the non-gambling sector in the future.

BetMGM Losing Market Share

In other BetMGM gambling news, BetMGM CEO Bill Hornbuckle says the company has lost ground in the sports betting market over the last year. Speaking last week at the J.P. Morgan Gaming, Lodging, Restaurant & Leisure Management Access Forum in Las Vegas, Hornbuckle said the product isn’t where it needs to be.

“We’re in nearly every marketplace, whether it’s iGaming or sports,” he said. “Having said that, we also recognize, particularly over the last 12 months or so, we had lost share. We lost share in sports betting.”
