New Hampshire Sports Betting Raises $100 Million for Schools
Education Big Winners in State's Partnership with DraftKings

When you think of sports betting, New Hampshire probably isn’t the first place that comes to mind. But New Hampshire sports betting is pretty big business. Since the state’s partnership with DraftKings was formed in December 2019, more than $2.71 billion have been wagered.
The betting trends are showing another profitable year for New Hampshire sports betting. That’s good news for state education, which has received more than $100 million from the New Hampshire Lottery from sports gambling profits in the four years it’s been in existence. The state lottery held a four-year sports gambling anniversary celebration on Feb. 16.
“We cannot believe we are already celebrating four years of sports betting in New Hampshire,” said Executive Director of the New Hampshire Lottery Charlie McIntyre in a press release. “It is incredible to think about what we have accomplished with DraftKings since 2019. We are extremely proud of the work we have done to establish New Hampshire as the premier destination for sports betting in the northeast.”
So far in this this fiscal year, New Hampshire sports bettors have already wagered more than $377 million. That’s generated more than $16.4 million for public education in the state.
Sports Betting Makes Rapid Rise
Sports betting in the state officially began with DraftKings accepting legal mobile sports bets in December 2019. The first retail sportsbook opened in The Brook in Seabrook, N.H. in August 2020. There have been three more sportsbooks to open since then in Manchester, Dover and Nashua.
New Hampshire is also seeing that people prefer to bet online. Out of the $2.71 billion wagered on sports, $2.2 billion has been wagered online, with nearly $500 million bet in person. That’s a higher percentage of in-person bets than a number of states see. But it still shows mobile betting is the preferred method for sports bettors.
New Hampshire sports betting has been a boost for the Education Trust Fund. And there is more money to come for education in the state.
