American Headlines Crawford vs Avanesyan Preview

WBO Welterweight Title Fight

All the rage is for the American in our Crawford vs Avanesyan preview as boxing odds have Crawford at -1500 to win.

He’s one of the biggest names in all of boxing, and although Avanesyan has been on a tear, the Russian doesn’t match up well in this situation.

Crawford Holds Off on Retirement

There hasn’t been an opponent to frighten Crawford and he has battled the likes of Shawn Porter, Amir Khan, Jose Benavidez Jr, and Jeff Horn.

The Omaha-born fighter has been in devastating knockout form, winning his past seven fights by TKO or knockout. It’s impressive form, but you expect that from the WBO Welterweight champion.

Crawford has often said he wanted to retire at 33, but at the ripe age of 35, he’s still putting wins on the board and he doesn’t appear to be slowing down.

“I always said I wanted to retire at 33,” Crawford said. “I did, I wanted to retire at 33 but here I am at 35 still going. I just love the sport.

“I just feel like I’m still at the top of my game and I really want that Errol Spence fight. I feel like that’s the fight that I really wanted, just to prove a point.”

Our Crawford vs Avanesyan preview suggests that Crawford is the dominant fighter at -1500, so there are high expectations as the boxing betting odds show.

He is the clear favourite, and for good reason. He stands out given the level of opposition he has faced throughout his long career. However, Avanesyan has been in deadly form himself.

The level of opposition has been considerably different for the challenger, and for this reason, Crawford is listed at such a low quote at the sportsbook.

Avanesyan Taking on Challenge

When a boxer promises to “shock the world,” things usually don’t go well, but it adds a lot of suspense.

The Russian boxer is 29-3-1 after notching six consecutive knockout wins following a setback to Edigijus Kavaliauskas.

His biggest victories were first and sixth-round finishes over Kerman Lejarraga and Josh Kelly, respectively. Despite online boxing betting odds having Avanesyan listed at +800, Crawford can’t take him cheaply after impressively eliminating Lejarraga in 2.26 minutes.

“I’m not only here to win this fight decisively but to shock the world,” said Avanesyan. “Come Sunday morning, the news will spread that I raised the belt and shocked the world.”

Our Crawford vs Avanesyan preview doesn’t believe Avanesyan has much of a chance to win. While his recent efforts have been impressive, that doesn’t always mean you’ll box well against a champion. Avanesyan could learn that Crawford is different gravy and he’ll do well to avoid getting knocked out.

Crawford is paying -750 to win by knockout, so he’s expected to end the fight before the final bell.
