But Zapotoczna is somewhat unknown and sometimes it’s these opponents that could shock the world.

Can Ryan Be the U.K.’s Champ at 115?
The super flyweight division is wide open for women’s boxing. A relative newcomer, Ryan could be on the fast track to a title shot. She had a breakout performance last year when she signed with Matchroom Boxing and beat up Italy’s Martina Bernile, who was 5-1-1 at the time.
“It’s been challenging at times because when I was doing kickboxing and taekwondo — well, certainly with kickboxing — you can’t knock [opponents] out, so we’ve had to work a lot on sitting down on the punches, building a base, and working on power,” Ryan said in an interview with The Sporting News.
Ryan may have zero knockouts on her resume but she hits hard and frequently has her opponents falling back to avoid her punches. This gives her a serious edge much like Claressa Shields in the higher weight classes.
The Ryan vs Zapotoczna odds favor this fight going to a decision at -370, which is an implied 78.7% chance. But if Ryan pushed it on Zapotoczna, she may just finish her by way of an onslaught. They are fighting on home soil and can feed off the raucous British fans.
The 27-year-old has yet to drop a round since she made her professional debut in March 2022. Beating a fellow unbeaten prospect like Zapotoczna could just put her in a title eliminator bout. Even if the boxing odds are shorter, many boxing pundits rate Zapotoczna higher than Dolan. So this is a step up for both women.
Zapotoczna Has Already Boxed With a Champion
Even if the Ryan vs Zapotoczna odds are against the latter, it may not mean much to her. The Polish-born boxer fights out of the U.K. and has sparred with former bantamweight champion Ebanie Bridges.
“I’ve definitely improved my defence but what was more important to me – when I met Ebanie I wasn’t in the best mental condition,” Zapotoczna said per Daily Star Sport. “But only one little chat with Ebanie was enough to make me stronger and change my mindset again.”
Zapotoczna has a similar record to Ryan, Dolan, and WBO champion Mizuki Hiruta. So it’s not against boxing odds for either Ryan or Zapotoczna to be in a title fight with an impressive victory here.
If there is anything against Zapotoczna, it’s her strength of boxing schedule. She has not fought an opponent with a winning record. The combined record of her opponents is 34-119-13. And she barely got by some of these matches. She edged Svitlana Vasylevska, a 2-2 boxer at the time. And she barely beat Inna Statkevych who had a 4-4-1 record then.
Against Ryan, Zapotoczna will face a significant step up in competition. This is the first time Zapotoczna faces a boxer who has yet to taste defeat. And with Ryan being born in Watford, she may be the more favored “hometown” boxer.
Still, as Zapotoczna’s sparring partner found out, upsets can happen at any time. Maybe this time it will be in their favor.
