Zepeda Aims to Defend Record Against Hughes
The Zepeda vs Hughes Odds are Wide for the Former

Big money has come with the Zepeda vs Hughes odds for the big fight in Las Vegas on Saturday.
William Zepeda is 29-0, and the -1665 favorite is all the rage ahead of his fight against Maxi Hughes.
It’s one of two boxing events on Saturday, including Marlen Esparza vs Gabriela Alaniz.
Another Win Looms
We can’t see Zepeda suffering his first defeat against Hughes.
The 27-year-old Mexican has yet to suffer defeat, and he comes off impressive knockout wins over Jaime Arboleda and Mercito Gesta.
He is the world’s #7 ranked lightweight fighter, and it won’t take him long to get a title fight. However, he must get past Hughes, who doesn’t have any betting support with Zepeda vs Hughes odds.
Zepeda has the terrific record of 29-0, with 25 wins coming by knockout. He’s a busy fighter, and he knows how to put his opponents away without leaving it in the hands of the judges.
We love that about Zepeda, and that’s why he’s the firm favorite to win the fight. He gave Gesta absolutely no chance of winning last year, and he won every round before sending his opponent to the canvas.
That was a four-star fight against someone with 34 wins on his record. He made him look second-rate, so we’re not shocked by the short odds for the Mexican, who deserves a title shot after years of waiting.
Hughes Ready for Challenge
According to the Zepeda vs. Hughes odds, Hughes has a +815 chance to win, which is about as long as it gets. He is a 26-6-2 fighter, so his record is not close to Zepeda’s.
The British fighter is outside the top 10 in the world, and at 34 years old, he’s running out of time to show his best form.
He comes off a loss to George Kambosos Jr, which was never going to be an easy fight. That was for the IBO World Lightweight title, and fighting a champion was too much for the Brit.
He lost by majority decision, so it wasn’t a bad effort. It followed seven consecutive wins, in terms of boxing fighters, we have seen a lot worse than Hughes.
The latest boxing news shows that Hughes believes he won the fight.
“My last fight I didn’t get the win on my record but every body knows I beat George Kambosos but nobody before that fight gave me a chance,” Hughes said. “They thought I was jumping up too many levels and was going to get exposed but I wasn’t the one who got exposed. It turns out it was the judges that got exposed that night for some bad decision-making.”
He might have won that fight, but he needs to raise his game for Zepeda. Avoiding getting knocked out won’t be easy for the underdog, so it could be a case of now or never for Hughes.
He’s running out of chances of get his hands on a title.
