Bundesliga: Bayern Munich vs Leverkusen Odds

Bundesliga’s Top Two Teams Face Off

Early Season Blockbuster

It’s too early to tell but there’s certainly a chance that Bayern Munich and Bayer Leverkusen will be the two main players in the title race this season. When Bayern host Leverkusen on Friday, both teams will put their perfect 3-0 records on the line. They’re currently in the top two spots in the Bundesliga as well. This kind of form is expected of Bayern, but Xabi Alonso’s Leverkusen have been a pleasant surprise so far. We’ll preview the Bayern Munich vs Leverkusen odds for Friday’s early season blockbuster match.

Day/Time:
Location: Allianz Arena, Munich, Germany

Head-to-Head

Last season, these teams split their two meetings on the Bundesliga schedule. Bayern Munich defeated Bayer Leverkusen 4-0 at home, which was Gerry Seoane’s last Bundesliga match in charge for Leverkusen. In the reverse fixture, Xabi Alonso’s Bayer picked up a 2-1 win over the Bavarians. Notably, Leverkusen haven’t won on the road at Bayern since 2019. Bayern have also won six of the last eight meetings, in all competitions.

Bayern Complete Comeback

Bayern Munich went into their last Bundesliga match at Borussia Monchengladbach having lost their last five vs. Gladbach. Despite their poor form vs Gladbach, Bayern entered the match as -300 moneyline and -1.5,-2 ATS favorites. It looked to be the same old story for Bayern vs Gladbach, as they fell behind in the first half on a Ko Itakura header.

In the second half, Bayern’s Joshua Kimmich played an excellent through ball for Leroy Sane who took a touch with his chest and finished past Moritz Nicolas to equalize. Bayern substitute Mathys Tel headed home a corner with three minutes to play to complete Bayern’s comeback. Bayern are now 3-0 and have averaged three goals per game so far. Here, the Bayern Munich vs Leverkusen odds price the Bavarians as -180 favorites.

Bayern have topped the Bundesliga standings 11 years in a row and it’ll be a disappointment if Thomas Tuchel’s side don’t make it 12. Harry Kane has been a standout since joining from Tottenham and has scored three goals in three Bundesliga games. Sane has also added three goals, while talented left back Alphonso Davies has provided three assists. Currently, Manuel Neuer, Jamal Musiala and Raphael Guerreiro are out with injuries.

Leverkusen Can’t Stop Scoring

Through three Bundesliga matches, Bayer Leverkusen have scored 11 goals. Leverkusen passed a tough test in their opener vs DFL-Supercup winners RB Leipzig by picking up a 3-2 win. They followed that up with a 3-0 win at Borussia Monchengladbach and a 5-1 win vs. Darmstadt. New striker Victor Boniface, who Leverkusen signed from Union Saint-Gilloise, has been excellent so far.

The Nigeria international has scored four goals and added two assists so far. Boniface has scored twice in each of his last two matches as well. Meanwhile, right wingback Jeremie Frimpong is a joint-leader in the Bundesliga stats, with three assists. So far, Leverkusen have averaged over 10 shots on target per game and play an attractive style that leads to plenty of opportunities.

Xabi Alonso has done a great job with this Bayer Leverkusen side and he’s one of world football’s most in-demand managers. With the Real Madrid job opening up next Summer, this could be Bayer Leverkusen’s best chance to win the Bundesliga title in quite some time. While Boniface has been performing admirably, it’ll be a big boost when fellow striker Patrik Schick is healthy. Defender Piero Hincapie is also on the sidelines for the time being.

Match Analysis & Odds

Bayer Leverkusen are currently 3-0 against the spread and straight up. However, the Bayern Munich vs Leverkusen odds list visiting Bayer as +380 moneyline underdogs for this one. Xabi Alonso, who finished his playing career at Bayern Munich, has won his only previous match vs the Bavarians as a manager. While the odds don’t imply Leverkusen will stay unbeaten, they do give them a solid chance to cover once again.

Leverkusen +1, +1.5 displays -140 odds and they can certainly compete with Bayern on Friday. The new look Leverkusen midfield of Granit Xhaka, Exequiel Palacios and Florian Wirtz has been excellent thus far. Notably, Bayern Munich lost just one Bundesliga home match all of last season. They’re -180 moneyline favorites for this match and Bayern -1, -1.5 sits at +110 odds.

A draw is priced at +390 odds but just one of the last 14 matches between the two sides has finished all square. With both teams averaging three or more goals per game, over 3.5 goals show -125 odds for what should be one of the most exciting matches of the season. With plenty of Bundesliga players on both sides taking part in international matches on Tuesday, they won’t have much time to recover before Friday.
