They’ll face quite a tough test on Sunday when RB Leipzig head to Berlin. We’ll look at the latest odds and team news from this Bundesliga clash between UCL sides.

⚽ Union Berlin vs. RB Leipzig Game ⚽

Location: Stadion An der Alten Försterei, Berlin, Germany
Date & Time: Sunday, September 3rd, 11:30 a.m. ET

Head-to-Head

Each of the last six meetings between these two sides, in all competitions, has finished in a 2-1 result. Union Berlin have won the previous three head-to-head matchups and five of the last six. Union completed the double over RB Leipzig last season but finished below them in the Bundesliga table.

Union Berlin Thriving

Union Berlin continue to impress. They opened up their season with a 4-1 win over Mainz 05 as an unlikely source scored a hat trick. Kevin Behrens, who had never previously scored more than once in a Bundesliga match for Union, found the net three times in the season opener.

Exciting new signing Robin Gosens also made his first start for Union in their Matchday 2 game vs. Darmstadt. He opened up the scoring within minutes, but Brenden Aaronson’s red card left Union in a tough spot. Darmstadt then equalized, but Gosens bagged his second goal soon after.

With 10 men, Union managed to score two more goals. Behrens and Danilo Doekhi also got on the scoresheet in the 4-1 win. Our Union Berlin vs RB Leipzig preview notes that Union are currently on top of the Bundesliga standings. On Sunday, they’ll look to improve to 3-0 and get their first clean sheet of the season.

However, Union Berlin have a number of injuries and suspension heading into this match. Doekhi suffered a head injury on his goal last weekend and is out, along with Sheraldo Becker, David Fofana, Janik Haberer, Rani Khrdira and Andras Schafer. Meanwhile, Brenden Aaronson will serve a one-match suspension Sunday.

RB Leipzig up and Running

Thanks to a Dani Olmo hat trick after winning the DFL-Supercup over Bayern Munich, RB Leipzig lost their Bundesliga opener to Bayer Leverkusen, 3-2. In the loss, Olmo scored again, and Lois Openda managed a Bundesliga debut goal. Leipzig fell behind once again in their second Bundesliga game vs. Stuttgart.

RB Leipzig responded brilliantly in the second half to the tune of five goals from five different goalscorers. Xavi Simons scored his first goal for Leipzig, while Olmo and Openda got on the scoresheet once again. Simons is tied for second in the Bundesliga stats with two assists through two matches.

A fully healthy Olmo has been a revelation for Leipzig, with five goals in just three matches in all competitions. The number of viable attacking options Leipzig have should be terrifying for opposing defenses. Being able to bring on Timo Werner and Emil Forsberg off the bench is quite a luxury. Leipzig’s Peter Gulacsi, El Chadaille Bitshiabu and Amadou Haidara are injured, but Marco Rose can name a very strong XI to face Union Berlin.

Match Analysis & Odds

Union Berlin vs RB Leipzig previews note that these teams have scored 15 Bundesliga goals between them in just four matches. Kevin Behrens has scored four of Union Berlin’s eight goals and is a joint Bundesliga leader so far. He’s poised to get another start up top for Union, who are +225 underdogs even though they’re playing at home and are on a three-game winning streak vs. Leipzig.

Meanwhile, Leipzig pk, -0.5 display -110 odds and the visitors show +120 moneyline odds. Over 2.5 goals are priced at -115 goals for the match and it looks to be one of the best bets on the odds board for Sunday’s match. Each of the last six meetings have finished with three goals and both teams have been firing on all cylinders.

Union Berlin pk, +0.5 comes in at -115 and it looks to be another reasonable bet. The eight previous Bundesliga matches between these teams have all had a winner. Still, a draw stands at +250 odds here.
