Injuries Pile Up for Bayern Munich

Two Bayern Munich players went off injured in Saturday’s 2-1 victory over Eintracht Frankfurt in the Bundesliga. Midfielder Konrad Laimer, who set up Harry Kane’s opener, twisted his ankle. Meanwhile, center back Matthijs de Ligt has a ligament injury in his knee. The pair are now doubts for Tuesday’s match and are two more names on an extensive injury list. Jamal Musiala, Dayot Upamecano, Leroy Sane, Kingsley Coman, Serge Gnabry, and Sacha Boey all missed the match.

Gnabry will likely return on Tuesday and Sane, Musiala, and Upamecano are most likely to follow suit. In any case, Bayern have won their last four games, in all competitions. Kane scored a brace on Saturday and he has found the net 42 times in 42 games this season. Bayern’s Champions League scores vs. Arsenal in the Quarter-Final were quite impressive as well. The Bavarians were underdogs to advance but pulled off a 2-2 draw at the Emirates in the first leg.

Joshua Kimmich’s header was the game’s only goal in the second leg as Bayern advanced to their first Semifinal since winning the competition in 2020. Tuchel has come under fire but Bayern are on pace for more points than last season’s title-winning campaign. Bettors should note that Bayern haven’t lost a home match in the Champions League since 2021.

Real Madrid Defeat Sociedad With Makeshift Lineup

On his first La Liga start, Arda Guler scored for Real Madrid and was their hero on Friday at Real Sociedad. Dani Carvajal, who is suspended for this match, sent in a cross for Guler who confidently finished. The 19-year-old is talented but unlikely to feature on Tuesday, as he’s behind some world-class midfielders in the pecking order. Ancelotti also sat Jude Bellingham, Vinicius Junior, Toni Kroos, Andriy Lunin and Fede Valverde for Friday’s match.

Rodrygo also missed out due to the flu but all five could be in the starting lineup on Tuesday. A couple of weeks ago, Real managed to pick up a 1-1 draw vs. Manchester City at the Etihad in the second leg of the Quarter-Final. A penalty kick shootout ensued and Lunin saved two of Man City’s efforts as Real Madrid knocked out the 2023 champions.

Real narrowly got past RB Leipzig (2-1) in the Round of 16 but managed to finish in first place in the Group C UCL standings. Los Blancos had a perfect 6-0 record in the group stage and they’re currently on a 40-game unbeaten streak in 90-minute matches overall. Real have the experience and know-how to win the Champions League for the second time in three seasons. While Ferland Mendy is a doubt for Tuesday’s match, Thibaut Courtois and David Alaba are out.

Match Analysis & Odds

Despite some potentially significant injury issues, the Bayern Munich vs Real Madrid odds favor hosts Bayern. If Real Madrid can get a result at the Etihad, they can certainly do it at the Allianz, though. At the moment, Bayern Munich are +140 favorites, while Real aren’t too far behind at +180 moneyline odds.

A draw is listed at +255 odds and would be a solid result for Real to take back to Madrid for the second leg. In this pick’em, Bayern pk comes in at -130 and Real Madrid pk is priced at +110 odds. It’s almost never a wise idea to bet against Real in the Champions League, though, as they consistently find a way to grind out results despite being on the back foot.

While Real Madrid are in the Semifinal for a fourth straight season, this is Bayern’s first appearance since 2020. Overall, Real are -200 favorites to go on and qualify for the Final after two legs. Real have conceded in each of their last three UCL knockout stage games, though, and over 2.5, 3 goals sit at -120 odds.
