Feyenoord vs Lazio Odds: Exciting Matchday 3 Showdown in the UCL

Teams Meet in Europe for Second Straight Season

Group E Wide Open

The Champions League returns this week for Matchday 3, and Feyenoord will host Lazio in Group E. In one of the most wide-open groups in the competition, both teams will be going for all three points. Feyenoord’s Santiago Gimenez has been one of Europe’s best strikers this season and’ll be looking to get on the scoresheet once again. These teams are meeting in European competition for a second straight season, and Gimenez scored three times vs Lazio in 2022-23. With both teams in good form, we’ll look at the Feyenoord vs Lazio odds from Wednesday’s match.

Location: De Kuip, Rotterdam, Netherlands

This is the third opportunity to bet on the Feyenoord vs Lazio odds in the last couple of years. Last season, these teams split their meetings in the same Europa League group. Feyenoord, who finished first in the group, pulled off a 1-0 win in Rotterdam as Santiago Gimenez scored the winner. Gimenez had also scored twice in the reverse fixture, but Lazio won 4-2 in Rome as Matias Vecino also scored a double. These teams also met in the 1999-00 UCL second group stage, where Feyenoord went 1-1-0 vs Lazio.

Feyenoord Dominant in Eredivisie

Feyenoord are the defending Eredivisie champions, and they’ve kicked off their domestic campaign unbeaten through nine matches. After drawing their first two league matches, they’ve won seven straight and have been a great soccer bet. The Rotterdam club destroyed Vitesse 4-0 on Saturday. Mexican striker Santiago Gimenez scored and provided an assist in the match.

He leads the Eredivisie with 13 goals in nine matches and is one of Europe’s most in-form strikers. He’s yet to score in either of Feyenoord’s matches on the Champions League schedule but commands attention from defenses. However, he may miss this match after picking up a knock vs Vitesse. Calvin Stengs also scored and assisted vs Vitesse, and he’s been excellent since joining from Antwerp.

Feyenoord’s last Champions League match, a few weeks ago, finished in a 3-2 loss at Atletico Madrid. The Dutch side took the lead twice but couldn’t get the job done in Madrid. Stengs and Alireza Jahanbakhsh scored in the opening 2-0 win over Celtic, though. Along with Gimenez, Luka Ivanusec and Yankuba Minteh could miss this one.

Lazio Healthy Heading into UCL Matchday

Since losing 2-0 at AC Milan on the last day of September, Lazio have won their previous three games, in all competitions. That includes a 2-1 comeback win over Celtic in the UEFA Champions League a few weeks back. Two substitutes were involved in the winning goal as Matteo Guendouzi sent in a cross for Pedro, who put home a header deep into stoppage time.

Now, Lazio are in second place in the Group E UCL standings, but they’re level on points with leaders Atletico Madrid. On Saturday, the Biancocelesti kept their first road clean sheet of the season. Felipe Anderson opened up the scoring in the 28th minute at Sassuolo with his first Serie A goal of the season. Luis Alberto added a second under 10 minutes later as Lazio cruised to victory.

Lazio have now scored twice in four of their last five UCL matches in all competitions. Mattia Zaccagni, Ciro Immobile, and Ivan Provedel were nursing injuries heading into the weekend, but all made appearances at Sassuolo. So, there are no names on the Lazio injury list heading into this Champions League clash.

Match Analysis & Odds

Lazio are still looking for their first-ever win on the road at Feyenoord. The Feyenoord vs Lazio odds price the hosts as -110 ATS and moneyline favorites. Lazio absolutely shouldn’t be counted out, and the Roman club is priced at +275 moneyline odds. Bettors should keep tabs on Santiago Gimenez’s status heading into Wednesday’s match.

Even though he hasn’t yet scored in this season’s Champions League, he’s scored 10 more goals than any other Feyenoord player in the Eredivisie. Japanese striker Ayase Ueda came on for Gimenez vs Vitesse and could make the starting lineup if the Mexican international can’t suit up.

A draw displays +290 odds for this Group E UCL matchups, but Feyenoord haven’t drawn any of their last ten games, in all competitions. Over 2.5, 3 goals sit at -120 odds for this one, as both UCL teams have scored in both of Lazio’s UCL matches so far.
