AC Milan Stats & History
AC Milan was founded by Englishmen in 1899 as Milan Football and Cricket Club. Milan won their first Italian championship in 1901 and back-to-back titles in 1906 and 1907. In 1908, a rift led to a breakaway club, which is now their biggest rival, Inter Milan.
The team struggled following the split and were unable to win another domestic trophy until 1951. Milan’s resurgence was led by the Swedish trio of Gunnar Nordahl, Nils Liedholm, and Gunnar Gren. Nordahl leads one of the most notable AC Milan stats, as he’s their all-time leading scorer.
Milan also won Scudettos in 1955, 1957, 159, and 1962. In 1963, the Rossoneri won the European Cup over Benfica, which was their first ever European trophy. AC Milan also won the Scudetto and the European Cup in 1969, with a 4-1 win against Ajax. Their first Coppa Italia win was in 1967, and they won back-to-back trophies in 1972 and 1973. They also won the European Cup Winners’ Cup in 1968 and 1973.

One year after winning a tenth league title, in 1979, Milan were embroiled in a betting scandal. It resulted in relegation to Serie B for the first time in their history. The club struggled for a few years but Silvio Berlusconi bought AC Milan in 1986 and invested heavily in the team. One of the most successful periods in club history followed.
Milan won a further six league titles from 1988 to 1999 and won three Champions Leagues during this span. One of the most impressive Milan team stats is a 58-match unbeaten streak in Serie A in the midst of three consecutive titles from 1992 to 1994.
The 2000s were also a successful decade for AC Milan: they won the Champions League in ‘03 and ‘07. The Rossoneri also won a Scudetto, Coppa Italia and Club World Cup. Milan started the 2010s with another Serie A title in 2011 but suffered a decade-long title drought.
Stefano Pioli’s side finally ended the drought in 2022 by winning a 19th league title over rivals Inter Milan. Betting advice in 2022-23 implies that Milan could defend their title. They’re priced at +225 preseason Serie A odds to win the title, which is third-best in the league.
