Monitor Dybala ahead of Roma vs Lazio Odds & Preview

Roma vs Lazio Odds & Preview

First Derby for Both Managers

As a Roma player, Daniele De Rossi went 14-7-10 against bitter rivals Lazio. On saturday, De Rossi will take on Lazio for the first time as Roma coach in a match that’ll mean a lot to him and the Giallorossi. Since their Coppa Italia Quarter-Final meeting in January, which Lazio won 1-0, the Biancocelesti have also changed coaches. This will be Igor Tudor’s first Derby della Capitale as Lazio boss as well and he won his first Serie A match in charge, vs. Juventus. Ahead of this Roman rivalry match, which is always fiery, we’ll run through the Roma vs Lazio odds.

Roma vs Lazio Head-to-Head

When these sides last met, three players were sent off. Mattia Zaccagni scored the game’s only goal as Lazio defeated Roma in January’s Coppa Italia Quarter-Final. Lazio’s Pedro and Roma’s Sardar Azmoun and Gianluca Mancini all earned red cards. The pregame Roma vs Lazio odds priced hosts Lazio as +195 underdogs. Notably, Lazio are unbeaten in their last three Serie A fixtures vs. Roma as well. AS Roma have failed to score in the last four meetings, in all competitions.

Roma Create Little vs Lecce

Roma were a fair bit fortunate not to concede on Monday at Lecce. The Giallorossi created precious few good chances of their own and Roma goalkeeper Mile Svilar faced 27 shots, only six of which were on target. While Roma have managed to score just one goal in their last three matches overall, they’ve conceded just three goals in their last five.

However, their Italian Serie A schedule over the next month or do is unforgiving. After taking on Lazio, Roma face Udinese, Bologna, Napoli, Juventus and Atalanta in the next five Matchweeks. With the Europa League Quarter-Final vs AC Milan also coming up, this is a crucial stretch for Daniele De Rossi’s Roma. They’ll have to make do without center back Evan N’Dicka on Saturday, as he’s suspended. Forward Sardar Azmoun and defender Rasmus Kristensen are injured.

Striker Romelu Lukaku will be looking to get on track here, as he hasn’t found the net for a month. Roma’s attack is much more fluid when Paulo Dybala is fully healthy. He was limited to just seven minutes vs. Lecce but should play a bigger role in the Derby della Capitale. The Argentine leads Roma in both goals and assists in Serie A, with 12 and seven, respectively.

Lazio Trophy Hopes Fading

Lazio were looking for back-to-back wins over Juventus as the two sides met in the first leg of the Coppa Italia Semifinal on Tuesday. The Biancocelsti came away with a 1-0 victory over the Bianconeri at the Stadio Olimpico in Serie A on Saturday as Lazio’s Adam Marusic scored his first goal in two years. Lazio didn’t manage a shot on target on Tuesday, though, as Juventus won 2-0. Out of European competition and in seventh place in the Serie A table, the Coppa Italia remains their last hope for silverware this season.

While Roma’s upcoming schedule is brutal, there are opportunities for Lazio to build some momentum. New coach Tudor can’t be too upset to see last-placed Salernitana after Saturday’s Derby. The only top half team Lazio play from now until the end of the campaign is Inter Milan. The Biancocelesti have performed well in recent Derby matches but they haven’t exactly been a high scoring bunch in 2023-24. Lazio have scored just 37 goals in 30 matches thus far.

Ciro Immobile remains the only Lazio player with five or more Serie A goals this season. However, the Italian international striker hasn’t scored in any of his last nine appearances, in all competitions. Taty Castellanos did score twice in a 3-2 win over Frosinone a few weeks back but he’s had an uneven start to life in Italy. At the moment, starting keeper Ivan Provedel is dealing with an injury, along with Manuel Lazzari and Nicolo Rovella.

Roma vs Lazio Match Analysis & Odds

Despite their recent woes in the Derby della Capitale, Roma are favorites for this match. The Roma vs Lazio odds currently price the Giallorossi at a +120 moneyline price. That corresponds to an implied 42.9 percent chance of victory without the vig. At the same time, Lazio have only lost one of their last six matches vs. AS Roma. Lazio are +255 underdogs here but they’ve been defensively solid in Rome Derbies lately.

Bettors can back Roma pk, -0.5 at -115, while Lazio pk, +0.5 sits at -105. The Biancocelesti allowed just three shots on target in two recent matches vs. Juventus and have what it takes to slow down the Roma offense. Punters should monitor Dybala’s status as the week goes on as Roma often look offensively lost without him.

A draw shows +210 odds as well, while both over and under 2, 2.5 goals are priced at -110 odds. While Roma are having problems getting on the scoresheet, Lazio have been shutout in three of their last six matches, in all competitions. None of the last four meetings have finished with more than one goal and it wouldn’t be surprising if this was another low scoring edition of the Derby della Capitale.
