Romelu Lukaku’s second stint at Chelsea did not go as planned as the Blues shipped Lukaku back out to Inter on loan this season. He has not been a consistent starter this season, as Lautaro Martinez has been the Nerazzurri’s key man. Still, Lukaku has been productive when he’s gotten time and he could be a key substitute on Saturday. Expect Lukaku to play a part as Inter take on Manchester City in the Champions League final. With the big Belgian making headlines on and off the field lately, we’ll take a look at Romelu Lukaku’s stats this season.

Lukaku’s Serie A Stats

Romelu Lukaku made 25 appearances for Inter Milan in Serie A this season, including 19 starts. The striker scored 10 goals for the season and also provided six assists. He started off slowly in 2022-23 but picked up towards the end of the season. Lukaku scored seven goals in his last seven Serie A matches for the Nerazzurri and dished out four assists in those matches.

While Lukaku wasn’t close to being in the Golden Boot race and missed some time due to injury, he did rank highly in some Serie A Player Stats. He scored 0.54 goals per 90 minutes played, which ranked 10th in Serie A. Romelu Lukaku’s stats also include 0.33 assists per 90 minutes for a total of 0.87 goals + assists per 90. He ranked sixth in the league in both stats.

Lukaku in Cup Competitions

Despite playing just 151 minutes in the Champions League, Romelu Lukaku has left his mark on the competition. He provided an assist for Lautaro Martinez in a crucial second leg victory over rivals AC Milan in the semifinals. Lukaku also scored a penalty in the quarterfinals vs. Benfica and the fixture’s only goal in the round of 16 vs. FC Porto. Romelu Lukaku’s stats in UCL this season are three goals and two assists, for an average of just over 50 minutes per goal.

Lukaku also made three appearances in the Coppa Italia, as Inter took home the title. He didn’t start in the 2-1 win in the final vs. Fiorentina but did play 33 minutes as a substitute. Belgium’s all-time leading scorer did find the net in the first leg of the semifinal vs. Juventus on a penalty.

What Impact Could Lukaku Make on Saturday?

If Inter Milan can keep the game close vs. Manchester City well into the second half, Romelu Lukaku could play a big role. He figures to be an impact sub and his size, speed and strength could cause problems for Man City. Lukaku is often excellent as a target man, holding up play while teammates make defense-splitting runs. Notably, all of his goal contributions in the UEFA Champions League this season have come as a substitute.

Rumored girlfriend Megan Thee Stallion could be watching on Saturday as Lukaku goes for his first-ever trophy in the European tournaments. He was one of Inter’s most important players in their 2020-21 Serie A title win and he could help them win a historic treble here.
