Napoli vs Juventus Serie A Odds: Preview

Defending Champions vs Bianconeri

Juventus Back Among the Wins

After a four game winless run, Juventus finally managed to get a win last Sunday vs Frosinone. Now, Juve have fallen behind quite far in the Serie A title race and need all three points when they head to Napoli on Sunday.

Napoli, who have already made two coaching changes this season, are struggling to stay in the race for European football. As the defending Serie A champions host the Bianconeri, we’ll take a closer look at the Napoli vs Juventus Serie A odds.

Napoli vs Juventus: Head-to-Head

In their Scudetto-winning campaign last season, Napoli managed to complete the double over Juventus. Juve didn’t let that spill over to the 2023-24 season, as they defeated Napoli 1-0 back in December. The pre match Napoli vs Juventus Serie A odds priced Juve as +140 favorites.

Still, Napoli have won three of the last five meetings of this fixture and the Partenopei have defeated Juventus four times in a row in Naples. All-time, Juventus lead Napoli in this series 85-46, with 50 draws.

Napoli Grab First Victory Under Calzona

Last weekend, Victor Osimhen put Napoli ahead at Cagliari. However, hosts Cagliari scored with virtually the last kick of the match to snag a 1-1 draw. It marked Napoli’s third straight 1-1 result overall. The Partenopei went on the road once again on Wednesday to Sassuolo and fell behind in the first half.

Napoli’s response was excellent as they went into halftime up 3-1, as Osimhen scored his first brace of 2024.

Osimhen completed his first hat trick of the season and second in his Serie A career in the second half. Khvicha Kvaratskhelia also managed to score two more goals to give Napoli an important 6-1 win.

Still, the Partenopei are only in ninth place in the Serie A table. While Osimhen was away at the Africa Cup of Nations, Napoli clearly missed him. He’s scored five goals in three games since returning to action. Wednesday was also Napoli’s first win by a multi-goal margin in Serie A for nearly four months.

It’s been an up and down season for the defending champions but they’ll hope having Osimhen and Kvara healthy will mean they close out strong. After sacking both Rudi Garcia and Walter Mazzarri, Napoli have Francesco Calzona, who also manages Slovakia, as their interim coach.

Napoli will be looking for just their second Serie A clean sheet of 2024 on Sunday and only Cyril Ngonge is doubtful for the match.

Juventus End Four Game Winless Streak

Juventus ended their four game winless streak on Sunday when they defeated Frosinone 3-2 with a last minute goal from Daniele Rugani. Juve took the lead early on in the first half as Weston McKennie found Dusan Vlahovic.

Frosinone fought back to go 2-1 up by the 27th minute but McKennie found Vlahovic again in the 32nd. The second half lacked clear cut chances but Juventus did win a very late corner. Vlahovic flicked on and Rugani scored from a tight angle in the fifth minute of stoppage time.

Now, a look at the Juventus standings shows they’re in second place in the Serie A table. Juve hold a four point lead over third-placed Inter Milan but they trail leaders Inter Milan by 12 points. Most predictions of Serie A have Juventus, who were banned from European competition this season, making the top four and qualifying for the 2024-25 UEFA Champions League.

Vlahovic is Serie A’s leading scorer in 2024. The Serbian has found the net nine times in seven matches since the start of the year. Unfortunately, McKennie was injured during his two-assist performance and will likely miss this match.

He joins Danilo, Adrien Rabiot and Mattia De Sciglio on the sidelines. Plus, winger Federico Chiesa didn’t train on Thursday due to pain in his right foot.

Match Analysis & Odds

As Juventus are dealing with a few key injuries, it doesn’t come as a huge surprise that Napoli are +140 favorites here. The Napoli vs Juventus Serie A odds price Juve as +215 road underdogs as two usual starting midfielders, Rabiot and McKennie figure to miss out. Perhaps Carlos Alcaraz will make his first start for the Bianconeri.

With Osimhen back in goal scoring form for Napoli, the Partenopei’s outlook for the rest of the season looks much better.

They’ll be feeling confident after Wednesday’s 6-1 victory at Sassuolo and it could end up being a turning point in their season. Bettors can also pick a draw, at +215 odds, although these teams haven’t drawn in Naples since 2017.

Napoli pk, -0.5 sits at +105 odds, while Juventus pk, +0.5 comes in at -125. Juventus are 8-3-2 on the road this season but are winless in their last two away from home.

Both of these teams’ last games finished with seven goals but the over/under goal total is just two here. Over two goals are priced at -130 odds for the Serie A match of the week.
