AC Milan vs Napoli Head-to-Head

Recent Serie A scores between these two sides have been relatively even. Incredibly, the road team is unbeaten in the last 10 Serie A fixtures between the two sides. In October, Olivier Giroud scored a brace as Milan drew 2-2 at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona. Last season, AC Milan and Napoli split their meetings. The Rossoneri and Partenopei also met in last season’s Champions League Quarter-Final, where Milan won 2-1 on aggregate. Over the last ten Serie A matchups, both teams have three wins and four matches have finished in draws.

Giroud Turning Back the Clock for Milan

Olivier Giroud’s impact on AC Milan this season is undeniable. Whether it’s setting up his teammates, or scoring big goals himself, the all-time leading scorer for the French national team has been superb. On Saturday, Giroud put in another excellent performance with a goal and assist vs. Frosinone. His first half header opened up the scoring before the Rossoneri conceded on a penalty.

Frosinone would take the lead in the second half but Giroud set up Matteo Gabbia for his first Serie A goal and Milan would equalize. Super sub Luka Jovic put in a poacher’s finish to complete the comeback and seal a 3-2 AC Milan win. Milan have now scored at least two goals in nine of their last 10 Serie A matches. Only league leaders Inter Milan have scored more goals than the Rossoneri this season. Giroud has contributed to 19 of them alone, with 11 goals and eight assists.

Giroud leads Serie A in assists at the moment. With AC Milan in fine goalscoring form, the AC Milan vs Napoli Serie A odds price the hosts as -105 favorites for Sunday’s match. Milan have conceded twice in each of their last three games, though, and have some defensive injuries.

Malick Thiaw, Pierre Kalulu and Fikayo Tomori could all miss Sunday’s match. Meanwhile, Tijjani Reijnders is suspended and he’s been a mainstay in Milan’s midfield this season. Tommaso Pobega is also injured at the moment, while Samuel Chukwueze won’t be back in time from the Africa Cup of Nations final.

Napoli Complete the Comeback

Like AC Milan, Napoli fell behind in their last match. It’s not for a lack of trying, though. The Partenopei had a ton of chances but Hellas Verona keeper Lorenzo Montipo had the game of his life. So, Verona’s Diego Coppola opened up the scoring in the 72nd minute, not leaving Napoli much time to come back. But come back they did, as former Verona player Cyril Ngonge had his shot deflected to equalize.

Napoli’s Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, who leads the league in shots, then unleashed a wonder strike which Montipo could do nothing about. Napoli managed a 2-1 victory and they’re now unbeaten in their last three games on the Serie A schedule. They’re counting down the days until star striker Victor Osimhen returns from international duty and Sunday is the last match he’ll miss.

Pierluigi Gollini has also filled in at goalkeeper since Alex Meret’s injury. Mathias Olivera is also injured, while Mario Rui will serve a one-game suspension on Sunday. While Osimhen is out, Kvaratskhelia and Matteo Politano will continue to be the players to watch for Napoli. The Partenopei have also conceded just twice in their last four games overall.

AC Milan vs Napoli Match Analysis & Odds

Defending champions Napoli simply aren’t as strong as they were last season. Losing Kim Min-jae has impacted the side and they haven’t scored close to as much as they did last season. Here, the AC Milan vs Napoli Serie A odds price visiting Napoli as +290 underdogs. Still, recall that the road team has had more success in this fixture over the last few seasons.

Milan are -105 favorites and they have an 8-1-2 home record this season. Bettors can also take a draw at +275 and the last two meetings overall have finished all square. Meanwhile, Napoli +0.5 comes in at -115 odds and a result would mean just their second four-game Serie A unbeaten streak of the season.

Milan have picked things up offensively in recent weeks and have also been conceded quite a bit with some defenders out. Under 2.5, 3 goals are priced at -120 odds for this one but don’t rule out a shootout.
