Inter Grind Out Result in Florence

Inter Milan scored a 1-0 victory over Fiorentina last Sunday in Florence. The Nerazzurri’s lone goal came on a Lautaro Martinez header from a Kristjan Asllani corner. Yann Sommer had to make a few key stops in the Inter. In the second half, with Inter’s backs against the wall, Sommer missed the ball and punched Fiorentina forward M’Bala Nzola. Fiorentina received a penalty after a VAR check, but Sommer saved Nico Gonzalez’s spot kick.

It wasn’t pretty, but Inter managed to win and keep another clean sheet. Given Juventus’ draw vs. Empoli and Inter’s win, the Nerazzurri returned to first place in the Serie A standings with a game in hand. Martinez has been in stellar form for Simone Inzaghi’s side, and the Argentine has scored five goals in his last five Inter appearances. Martinez has scored 19 Serie A goals this season, and he looks to be well on his way to a Golden Boot victory.

Left back Federico Dimarco didn’t return from a thigh injury in time for Inter’s match at Fiorentina. However, he is available this weekend, and only Juan Cuadrado is confirmed to be out for the Nerazzurri. Center back Alessandro Bastoni is listed as doubtful and Inzaghi could opt to go with a Stefan de Vrij, Benjamin Pavard, and Francesco Acerbi backline. With Sommer in goal, Inter have kept a league-high 13 clean sheets, and they’re on a 15-game unbeaten streak in Serie A.

Juve Slip up in Title Race

Juventus fell to second place in the Serie A table with a 1-1 draw vs. Empoli last Saturday. Arkadiusz Milik picked up a red card in the first 20 minutes of the match, which made Juve’s job much tougher. Despite playing with a man disadvantage, Juventus took the lead in the second half as Dusan Vlahovic scored yet again. Tommaso Baldanzi scored 20 minutes later to equalize, and the match finished all square.

Heading into Serie A Matchday 23, Juventus are on a 17-game league unbeaten streak. They’ve also won seven of their last eight games in all competitions and have a solid shot to win the Coppa Italia. Vlahovic has been scoring a ton of goals lately, with six in his last four Serie A starts. The Serbian striker is starting to live up to his price tag and is a key player for Massimiliano Allegri.

Vlahovic’s partner in crime Federico Chiesa missed the Bianconeri’s last match and is listed as doubtful for this one. Milik is suspended for this one, while Mattia De Sciglio is also out. Allegri could start youngster Kenan Yildiz alongside Vlahovic in this one which would be a big opportunity for the Turkish striker to impress in the Derby d’Italia.

Inter Milan vs Juventus Analysis & Odds

Both Inter Milan and Juventus have highly in form strikers in Martinez and Vlahovic, respectively. They’ve both scored in each of their last four Serie A starts and they’ll be aiming to get on the scoresheet in the season’s biggest match. Inter are 8-1-1 in Serie A at the San Siro this season and have won each of their last five league home matches. The Nerazzurri have a deeper squad than Juventus and Marcus Thuram has also been one of the league’s standout players this season. In his first Serie A season at Inter Milan, Thuram has scored eight goals and provided seven assists so far. Meanwhile, Juventus come in at +360 odds and they are unbeaten in their last two road Serie A games at Inter.

These teams have the two best defensive records in the league and under 2, 2.5 goals show -120 odds.
