Head-to-Head

Arsenal and Liverpool have already met twice this season. Back in December, Arsenal managed to snag a 1-1 draw at Anfield as the Arsenal vs Liverpool EPL odds priced the Reds as +145 favorites. Liverpool have lost just one of their last six English Premier League fixtures vs Arsenal but the Gunners are unbeaten in the last three. However, Arsenal did fall 2-0 at home to Liverpool in the FA Cup third round in early January.

Goals Finally Flowing for Arsenal

Since losing to Liverpool in the FA Cup in early January, Arsenal have won their last two Premier League matches. On Tuesday, the Gunners went on the road to Nottingham Forest and Mikel Arteta handed Emile Smith Rowe a rare start in midfield.

Uncover Exclusive Picks & Predictions From Our Experts.

Smith Rowe looked sharp and he gives Arteta an interesting selection dilemma going forward if he’s able to stay fit. Gabriel Jesus shot the ball through former Arsenal keeper Matt Turner’s legs to open up the scoring in the first half.

Jesus put in a man of the match performance, as he also assisted Bukayo Saka’s goal. Following Saka’s goal, Arsenal conceded but they were able to hold on for a 2-0 victory. A couple of Saturday’s ago, Arsenal destroyed Crystal Palace 5-0.

The Gunners haven’t had issues scoring from open play over the last couple of games but they’ve struggled vs some of the league’s top defenses this season. Gabriel Magalhaes scored on a header for Arsenal as they drew 1-1 with Liverpool in December. However, Arsenal have scored just four goals in five EPL matches vs fellow top six opposition this season.

Arteta will be able to call on all of his regular starters on Sunday when they host Liverpool in the most exciting match on the Premier League schedule today.

Thomas Partey is still working his way back from an injury while Fabio Vieira and Jurrien Timber are out. Meanwhile, Takehiro Tomiyasu is at the AFC Asian Cup with Japan. Saka has been key for Arsenal in the EPL this season, with seven goals and six assists.

Liverpool the EPL Team to Beat

Even without Mo Salah, Liverpool have been on a roll lately. Their latest victory came over Chelsea on Wednesday and it wasn’t particularly close. The Reds beat Chelsea 4-1 as youngster Conor Bradley played a starring role.

The 20-year old has been filling in at right back for Trent Alexander-Arnold and has done an admirable job. On Wednesday he scored his first Liverpool goal and provided two assists.

Diogo Jota, Dominik Szoboszlai and Luis Diaz were also on the scoresheet for Jurgen Klopp’s side. Alexander-Arnold and left back Andy Robertson came on as subs as they work their way back from injuries and they should be available on Sunday.

Darwin Nuñez may have missed a penalty but he was relentlessly causing problems for Chelsea’s defense.

On the back of four straight league wins, Liverpool are still in first place in the Premier League standings. They enter the weekend five points ahead of both Arsenal and Man City but City have a game in hand.

Salah is out on Sunday, along with Kostas Tsimikas and Joel Matip. Thiago has returned to full training but it’s unclear when he’ll be in action again. Meanwhile, Wataru Endo is also at the AFC Asian Cup.

Match Analysis & Odds

Arsenal did manage to defeat Liverpool at the Emirates last season and they’re +135 favorites for Sunday’s match. However, their finishing vs Liverpool last month left a lot to be desired.

The Gunners are capable of winning this match but they’ll need to make sure they take their chances. Jesus was excellent on Tuesday and Arteta will need him to step up here once again.

The Arsenal vs Liverpool EPL odds also list Liverpool as +185 underdogs and they’ve only lost one of their last 12 90-minute matches vs Arsenal, in all competitions.

With Robertson and Alexander-Arnold available for selection again, Liverpool are much more dangerous. Arsenal will be pleased to not have to deal with Salah but Diogo Jota has caused the Gunners problems time and time again.

Arsenal pk, -0.5 sits at +105 odds for this one, while Liverpool pk, +0.5 comes in at -125. Bettors can take a draw, which happened in the reverse fixture, at +265 odds. Both EPL teams have a lot of attacking talent and over 2.5, 3 goals shows -115 odds for the EPL match of the weekend.
