The PGA Tour returns with the Sanderson Farms Championship this week, which is headlined by Ludvig Aberg.
The Swedish star is the current +1200 favorite with PGA golf today, and we expect money to come for him throughout the week.
Looking to score an upset are the likes of Stephan Jaeger, Eric Cole, and a host of upset chances.
Short Turnaround for Aberg
Just days after winning the Ryder Cup with Europe, Aberg has to refocus for the Sanderson Farms Championship.
That won’t be an easy task for the youngster, and who knows how big the celebrations were. However, he’s a great talent, and he deserves to be at the top of the betting market.
The European Masters winner has yet to finish ahead on a PGA leaderboard, but it’s only a matter of time before he wins in the U.S.
“It’s almost unreal how he’s made his way from being a great college player and winning all these great awards to getting here. But we know he’s good. From when he turned pro to standing here, it’s an amazing journey,” Aberg’s mentor Peter Hanson said.
The PGA Tour schedule can be hectic, but it’s good to see Aberg teeing it up this week.
He’ll be under pressure to perform, but as the +1200 odds suggest, he’s up for the challenge.
Cole Nears PGA Success
It has been a strange journey for Cole, who made his debut as a 35-year-old.
The American spent most of his career on a feeder tour, but he earned his PGA Tour card and he hasn’t looked back.
He was good enough to finish runner-up in the 2023 Honda Classic, which is a good enough form guide for the Sanderson Farms Championship.
Cole, despite not being a youngster like Aberg, is still one of the rising stars on the tour, so he can’t be overlooked.
We don’t think it will be long until Cole wins on the PGA Tour, but it will come against an easier field, like what he faces this week.
None of the world’s best players are on the field, so guys like Cole can take advantage.
Cole has a +2000 chance to win, which is a fair price from the sportsbook.
Value with Hossler
Beau Hossler is another player on the verge of posting a PGA Tour.
He might not be the most consistent golfer in the world, but the former Texas collegiate player has the ability.
He’s a +4000 chance with Sanderson Farms Championship betting markets, and those odds are tough to ignore.
Despite some moderate play on the weekend, he has been around the mark in 2023. He just needs to put four days together and he’s a great chance of winning.
His best form comes in tournaments when the best players are either playing a bigger event, or they’re taking a break, so like Cole, he could strike in these circumstances.
Will Cameron Ever Be Champ?
Cameron Champ has had an interesting career, to say the least.
He showed a great level of talent in the early stages of his career, but he has been relatively average since.
We’re not sure why Champ isn’t living up to his name, but we’re prepared to give him one more chance.
He just needs to focus on the next shot, and although it’s easy for us to say, his mental game has been severely lacking.
The best thing for bettors is their price. He’s a +6600 chance, so even if he has little chance of winning based on his form, he’s worth a stab at the price.
