2023 Ryder Cup Betting Odds: USA Favored to Win

Europe Hosts USA in Italy

The Ryder Cup starts next week, and 2023 Ryder Cup betting odds have the USA at +120.

It’s not a bad price compared to most PGA odds, so Team USA should feel confident of beating Europe, which have a young team.

The host nation usually has an advantage, but with it being played in Italy, it doesn’t heavily favor Europe.

Europe Attracts Attention

Europe has a solid team on paper. We would have liked to have seen Sergio Garcia in the team, seeing as he has the most points in Europe’s history.

However, anything is possible with Rory McIlroy and Jon Rahm, who anchor the team with experience.

We thought Europe would be higher than +110 with the 2023 Ryder Cup betting odds. It is a quality team, but Team USA is stacked with some of the best players in the world, and its team looks more formidable.

Europe needs to get off to a fast start in the foursomes. Chasing USA isn’t an easy task, so it’s essential to get the right pairings. Unfortunately, because the USA also plays the President’s Cup, it’s more used to the format.

Billy Foster believes leaving out Garcia and Lee Westwood was a big mistake.

“What they bring to that locker room is immense,” Foster said. “I wouldn’t have banned them because they should be the next three Ryder Cup captains – and are they going to be that now? Probably not, which is a shame because what they’ve done in the Ryder Cup is now tarnished for doing what was right for them.

“Let’s face it, you can’t blame them for playing less golf for more money.”

Had they been in the team, Europe could have been favored to win the Ryder Cup. Garcia had always been a mainstay on the PGA leaderboard, so he’s a significant loss.

Expect USA to Firm

Money usually rolls in for USA, so the -120 could firm considerably over the next week.

Bettors often see the names on the start sheet and back Team USA, which has the likes of Scottie Scheffler and Jordan Spieth.

It’s a formidable team, as its winning record shows, and it could firm to around -140 before the first day.

The PGA Tour schedule has been hectic for many of the American players, including the likes of Max Homa, who played last week as the defending champion. He could be a bit tired, but that’s the only negative for USA.

Homa is the favorite to win the most points as a USA rookie. He’s a +180 chance to hold off the likes of Sam Burns, Wyndham Clark and Brian Harman.

He’s an excellent choice because he will play most of the matches, whereas the other three are likely to sit out at least one.

Experience comes with Patrick Cantlay, Brooks Koepka and Xander Schauffele, so USA should be the best-backed team with 2023 Ryder Cup betting odds.
