Relegation Threatened Frosinone Host Champions Inter

Frosinone vs Inter Milan Betting Preview and Odds

Inter Coasting into the Offseason

Inter Milan clinched the Serie A title over two weeks ago. Since then, they’ve been able to coast, and they lost for just the second time in Serie A this season on Saturday. Frosinone, threatened by the prospect of relegation, will see Friday’s match vs. Inter as an opportunity to pick up some points. Frosinone enter Matchday 36 in 16th place, just two points outside of the relegation zone. Even though the Scudetto holders don’t need any more victories, the Frosinone vs Inter Milan betting odds still list Inter as favorites. Later on, we’ll go through the odds and team news.

Frosinone vs Inter Milan Head-to-Head

Serie A champion Inter Milan have taken on Frosinone five previous times in the league. Each time, Inter have defeated Frosinone. In fact, Frosninone have managed to score just one goal vs. Inter all-time. In the reverse fixture, Federico Dimarco and Hakan Calhanoglu scored in a 2-0 Nerazzurri victory. The Frosinone vs Inter Milan betting odds priced Inter as massive -605 favorites for the match.

Frosinone on Six Game Unbeaten Streak

Frosinone took on fellow relegation battlers Empoli on Sunday in Serie A, and the match finished completely scoreless. Empoli had a goal called back for marginal offsides, and Frosinone had a late penalty shout waved away. Walid Cheddira had Frosinone’s best chances in the match, but the Moroccan international couldn’t convert. The Canarini haven’t done themselves any favors in road matches this season.

They’re currently 7-4-6 at home, but they’re 0-6-11 in 17 road Serie A fixtures. Notably, three of Frosinone’s last five matches have finished in scoreless draws. They’ve drawn five of their six games on their current six game unbeaten run. Matias Soule has done everything he can to keep Frosinone up, and the versatile Argentine has scored 11 goals and provided three assists this season. Cheddira and Luca Mazzitelli are the only other Frosinone players to reach the five goal threshold in Serie A.

Frosinone do deserve credit for conceding just two goals in their last five games. However, the goals haven’t exactly been flowing. With matches vs. Inter Milan, Monza and 18th-placed Udinese remaining, they need all of the points they can get. Michele Cerofolini deputized for injured goalkeeper Stefano Turati on Sunday and kept his first clean sheet in three starts this season. Meanwhile, defender Anthony Oyono is out.

Inter Have Leeway to Experiment

Sassuolo are responsible for both of Inter Milan’s Serie A losses this season. On Saturday, 19th-placed Sassuolo also ended Inter’s 42 game Serie A scoring streak. Inter shot 14 times but only managed a single shot on target and kept 76 percent possession. It goes to show that anything can happen on a given Matchday, especially after the Nerazzurri have already won the title.

Simone Inzaghi rotated goalkeepers and left usual starters Marcus Thuram, Calhanoglu and Dimarco on the bench. Inter have been on top of the Serie A standings from start to finish and things will stay that way regardless of how they perform over the next three matches. So, Inzaghi has some leeway to experiment and save his stars for next season.

Still, Lautaro Martinez has started each of Inter’s two matches since clinching the title. The Argentine is chasing the golden boot and has scored 23 goals in Serie A this season. His biggest challenger, Dusan Vlahovic, has scored 16 times. Expect more rotation this weekend and only defender Francesco Acerbi is on the injury report.

Frosinone vs Inter Milan Match Analysis & Odds

Frosinone’s top flight fate rests on the last three games of the season. If they’re able to take down the champions it would represent a massive step toward survival. However, the Frosinone vs Inter Milan betting odds currently list the Nerazzurri as -165 road favorites.

It’s unlikely that Inter will go two games without a goal and Inter Milan over 1.5 goals comes in at -170. Frosinone have lost just one of their last four home matches but they’re 0-1-6 vs. the league’s top four teams this season. So, Frosinone are +395 underdogs here but even a draw (+350) could get them a little bit of separation from the relegation zone depending on other results.

Both Frosinone +1 and Inter -1 sit at -110 odds here. A lot in this match hinges on what starting XI Inter coach Inzaghi decides to name. He could end up sitting some of his starters once again or he may decide to throw them out there to avoid two straight defeats. Over and under three goals show -110 odds and Frosinone will have to defend compactly to have any chance here.
