Manny Machado Season Stats: One of MLB’s Best

Infielder Has Had Solid Seasons With Padres

The Manny Machado season stats are impressive by any standard you use. The current San Diego Padre has put up big numbers nearly every MLB season. Beginning with his days as a 19 year old with the Baltimore Orioles, Machado has delivered.

He’s seldom among the MLB leaders in any category, but has been consistently good. He hasn’t really had what could be considered a poor season during his career. Machado has played on some good teams lately. But the Orioles weren’t a competitive ball club when he first came up.

Machado didn’t spend a lot of time in the minor leagues, where he began playing at the age of 17. Surprisingly, he never hit above .276, which is unusual for a lifetime .280 MLB hitter. He also never played AAA, getting called up to the Orioles after playing the season at AA Bowie in 2012.

Playing in 51 games for the Orioles, Machado hit .262 with seven home runs and 26 RBI. His first full season with the Orioles was in 2013, where he hit .283 with 14 home runs and 71 RBI.

Machado’s least productive season came in 2014, as he played in 82 games and hit .278. But he had just 32 RBI, a pace of 63 runs batted in for the full season.

Machado strung together three solid seasons for Baltimore in 2015-17. He hit between 33 and 37 home runs and knocked in between 86 and 96 runs.

In 2018, Machado was off to his best start for the Orioles. In 96 games, Machado hit .315 with 24 home runs and 65 RBI. He was traded to the Dodgers for five players on July 18, 2018.

The Manny Machado season stats for 2018 are his career best, at least from an RBI standpoint. After his solid start with the Orioles, Machado hit .273 with 13 home runs and 42 RBI in 66 games for the Dodgers. Machado finished with 107 RBI and 37 home runs, which ties his number from 2016. Machado helped the Dodgers reach the World Series, where they lost to Boston. The MLB odds had the Dodgers favored at the start of the season.

Instead of resigning with the Dodgers, Machado elected to sign a 10-year, $300 million deal with the Padres on Feb. 21, 2019. It was the highest free agent contract in MLB history until Bryce Harper signed a 10-year deal worth $330 million several weeks later.

The Manny Machado season stats for his first year with the Padres were a little below his standards, hitting .256 with 85 RBI and 32 home runs. In the shortened 2020 season, Machado hit .304 with 16 homers and 47 RBI in 60 games.

Machado was back to his old self in 2021 and 2022, averaging 30 home runs, 104 RBI and a .288 batting average for the Padres.
