Minnesota Twins vs. Texas Rangers Betting Odds Preview

Twins Counting Down Magic Number in AL Central, Rangers Falling Fast

The Minnesota Twins (69-65) lead the Cleveland Guardians by five games in the American League Central, and with every other team in the division under .500, you would think that Minnesota would be setting up the bubbly in the clubhouse with a month to play.

Unfortunately, the Guardians have crept back into the race after being behind by seven games two days ago. Texas, who led the American League West for much of the season, finds themselves a game behind the Seattle Mariners and Houston Astros with 29 games left. After analyzing this match-up it’s clearly providing us with one of the best MLB bets today. Let’s continue our Twins vs Rangers betting odds preview with a look at both teams from a betting perspective.

Twins Start Series As Healthy Road Dog

We wish MLB score predictions were as easy as knowing which way the betting public would wager, but it’s not a shock to see the Twins as a +125 dog against Texas pitcher Max Scherzer (12-5, 3.71). Minnesota is sending Joe Ryan (9-8, 4.33) to the mound to counter the 3-time Cy Young award winner.

As expected the public is loading up on Scherzer after there were some -140’s as the send-out number. The public quickly pounded that up to its current -151 consensus. Ryan’s last outing was against Texas on the 26th, a 6-2 loss, but the 27-year-old pitched well enough to win with five innings of five-hit ball, allowing 1 earned run to go with seven k’s and just 2 walks. That game was tied at two before the Rangers exploded for four runs in the top of the ninth against Griffen Jax.

If you’re just looking at the scoreboard, you would think that Texas handled Minnesota easily in a game also started by Ryan and Scherzer, but the reality is the Twins made an even stronger case for this match-up. We continue our Twins vs Rangers betting odds preview with a look at the flailing Rangers.

26-25 Just Will Not Cut It in The West

The Texas Rangers have had a terrific season after a 52-29 first-half start. They led the American League West baseball standings by 6.5 games on June 23rd and have never been under .500 the entire season. However, when Summer hits, that’s when the great teams start to separate themselves from the quick starters and that’s exactly what’s happening in Arlington.

The Rangers are just 40-38 since the first of June and 26-25 from July on. Other teams are starting to find another gear while Texas seems stuck in cruise control. One of their problems is in one-run games where they’re 11-19 in 2023. When they need a big hit in a close game it just isn’t there.

That was the case against the Twins in two of the four games last week in Minnesota where the Twins won three of the four games by a combined 13 runs, but 10 of those came in a 12-2 loss in game two. The Rangers have not won three straight games in almost a month, making them an unreliable wager in game one.

We conclude our Twins vs Rangers betting odds preview with our official selection.

Go Against Public In Rematch

We don’t have betting pattern numbers yet but it’s safe to say that the Rangers side will continue to get pumped with cash, leaving us with a nice plus-money wager. There are times when you get a sense that a team isn’t on the page, and Ron Washington’s team fits that assessment right now.

Our official game one selection is the Minnesota Twins and the generous plus money. That does it for our Twins vs Rangers odds preview, we wish you all the best with your wagers this weekend.
