A new star is joining Inter Miami’s roster. It seems David Beckham and the Florida team are pulling all the stops to assemble a competitive squad, and in this MLS Transfer Alert, we’ll be talking about Luis Suarez, the latest global sensation to join the Major Soccer League.
Suarez will be arriving in Miami once he completes the season with his current team, Gremio, in Brazil’s Serie A.
He’s agreed to a one-year contract with the option to renew for a second.
A Slice of Barcelona in Miami
But Messi wasn’t the only blockbuster signing for the team. Midfielder Sergio Busquets and defender Jordi Alba were the other two pieces that arrived at Inter Miami, likely at the request of “La Pulga” Messi.
After a flurry of rumors, Inter Miami announced the arrival of Uruguayan forward Luis Suarez from Gremio, a team competing in Brazil’s top division. He had solid numbers with Gremio, scoring 10 goals and providing 10 assists in 26 matches.
Is This the Solution to Inter Miami’s Lackluster Performance?
While these stars may be far from their peak performance, there’s no doubt they still possess their talent. At the beginning of the season, Inter Miami found themselves at the bottom of the MLS soccer standings.
Since the arrival of the Argentinian legend, there has been a noticeable improvement. With the addition of Luis Suarez, a close friend of Messi, there’s an opportunity for this MLS team to contend for the top positions.
Uruguay’s all-time leading scorer demonstrated in Brazil that he still possesses plenty of skill, and though he may be far from the striker he once was at Liverpool or Barcelona, his quality is more than enough to shine in the MLS.
It will be intriguing to see the shift in the MLS betting odds once Suarez joins the team. With his arrival, it’s expected that the team’s goal production will increase, and, given Messi’s ability to assist his teammates, their numbers in the MLS stats will likely skyrocket.
In the meantime, stay tuned for the next MLS Transfer Alert because MLS keeps serving up surprises every season.
