Favorite Dominates Carmouche vs Bennett Odds

Bellator 294 Main Event in Hawaii

Carmouche vs Bennett odds paints a one-sided picture for the main event at Bellator 294 on Friday.

Liz Carmouche is a former UFC fighter, who is unbeaten since arriving at Bellator. She faces DeAnna Bennett, who doesn’t have the same pedigree.

It should be an exciting fight for the women’s flyweight championship.

Carmouche Seeks Sixth Straight

Bellator 294 betting odds have Carmouche at -450 for a reason. She has won her last five fights since arriving in Bellator, and the champion deserves the attention.

She was a solid fighter in the UFC as well. Her most recent loss came to superstar Valentina Shevchenko in 2019, which is an excellent form guide for this fight.

She has already beaten Bennett with a rear-naked choke in 2020, and she doesn’t believe her opponent has improved much since then.

“I haven’t seen any growth from her, but if there’s one thing I’ve learned in facing opponents, it’s just because they’ve performed at the same level, they rise to the occasion when they come to face me,” observed Carmouche.

“And sometimes they see things that I’ve done or things they’ve done incorrectly, and they’ve got a completely different game plan. I’ve got things that I want to work on, but I’m definitely prepared for the idea that she’s going to come out as a new fighter.”

Former UFC fighters should always have the advantage in Bellator and Carmouche fits the bill. She has only one decision win from her last five fights, the rest have been decided by submission or knockout.

The 39-year-old finished Kana Watanabe with punches and Juliana Velasquez with elbows, so she’s a devastating finisher. She also poses a threat in the grappling department, so Bennett is up against it.

Bennett Turned Form Around

Bennett lost three consecutive fights in Invicta and Bellator, but she turned that form around with three consecutive wins.

The 38-year-old gets one last chance to fight for a title against Carmouche, who won late in the third round last time around.

Her last three wins have all come by decision, so she’s not a finisher, and that’s reflected in Carmouche vs Bennett odds. She is the outsider at +325, which is hardly surprising given the first meeting.

We’re not impressed with her overall 13-7 record. There have been no standout wins throughout her career, so winning the title seems a little farfetched at this stage. However, it wouldn’t be the fight game without the odd upset.

“I don’t want to say I underestimated her, I feel like I almost underestimated myself going into that fight,” Bennett said. “Me? Little ol’ awkward me? Not necessarily everyone knows who I am.

“They’re gonna know me. After this fight, if they don’t know me yet, they’re gonna know me now … which is actually a little weird to me.”

We love her confidence, but we can’t see her pulling off the upset. She would likely need to win via decision, and that’s highly unlikely.
