The Joe Gibbs Racing driver controlled the race to get his second win in the last three events.

Only one other driver can match Smith’s form so far in 2024 – Austin Hill – as the two start to pull away. Smith could stretch that lead this week according to the 2024 DUDE Wipes 250 Odds.

2024 DUDE Wipes 250 Odds: Favorites

  • Chandler Smith (+340)

Smith’s the form driver to start 2024. He’s won two races and finished in the top five three more times. At 265 points, he leads the Xfinity NASCAR points standings by 10 points over Hill but the two are more than 30 points clear of the next-best driver.

Martinsville is a unique challenge of a track. Smith hasn’t raced there much in his NASCAR career. He finished 10th and 36th in the two races there last season. In the Craftsman Truck Series, Smith earned top-six results in two career races there at that level.

Another top-eight result seems likely but a second consecutive win could be tough for this week.

  • Cole Custer (+650)

The reigning Xfinity Series champion had another solid run in Richmond with his fourth top-10 finish in a row. He’s raced well so far in 2024 and sits third in the standings. his track record in Martinsville is solid; he took pole position en route to third place in this event last year.

In the lower levels, he’s been okay, including fourth from pole in the Camping World Truck Series in 2015. He’s yet to reach victory lane in 2024 but this weekend could be a tough time to do it.

  • Justin Allgaier (+700)

Allgaier finished 11th in Richmond to keep in the top 10 of the standings. It’s been a bit disappointing for the defending series runner-up so far in 2024. The first six races have seen him make the top 10 just twice. Luckily, he’s one of the better drivers in Martinsville.

Allgaier won the most recent Xfinity race at the track last fall after finishing sixth in this event. His last seven races include four top-five results. Xfinity NASCAR predictions are tough but he’s set for a bounce-back performance this weekend.

  • Sammy Smith (+900)

The other sophomore Smith rounds out the favorites as a serious contender for victory. Smith has just two career races at any NASCAR level in Martinsville in both Xfinity races last year. He did well in each, though, finishing second in this event and third from pole position in the fall race. He led the most laps in the latter as well.

Aside from a rough go in Austin, Smith’s consistently a top-10 finisher in 2024. This week could be the time he breaks through for his second career Xfinity win this week.

Sleepers in Martinsville

  • Sheldon Creed (+1000)

These NASCAR odds don’t make him too much of a sleeper but Creed’s worth considering for victory. He’s one of the more inconsistent drivers so far in 2024. He’s finished in the top five in three races and lower than 25th in the other three. Last time out in Martinsville, Creed took second place for the second year in a row.

The spring race hasn’t been as good for him but that could change. As the record shows so far this year, he’ll likely follow his poor result in Richmond with a good one this week.

  • Sam Mayer (+1100)

After finishing third in the championship last season, Mayer’s off to a rough start in 2024. Just one top-10 finish in the first six events compared to four in that span last year.

But Martinsville could be the spot for him to turn things around. He’s raced well at the venue before with three top-six results in his last five races there. In 2022, he finished fifth in this event. He could improve and jump up the standings after this weekend.

  • Brandon Jones (+1800)

Besides Allgaier, Jones is the only active driver on the Xfinity series grid with a win at Martinsville. Jones won this event in 2022 but that result wasn’t a one-off. He finished fifth in this race last year and in 2021. In the fall race, he took pole position in 2022 and finished in the top 10 in both 2020 and 2021.

His track record is one of the best in the series at that venue. If the Xfinity drivers were to hit Martinsville for a NASCAR race today, he’d be one of the top drivers to back in any form.

2024 DUDE Wipes 250 Odds: Xfinity predictions for Martinsville

Martensville’s unique characteristics makes it an unpredictable challenge for many drivers. It’s hard to correlate form from similar tracks to get a good feeling ahead of the weekend. But there are a couple of drivers who stand out as good bets for victory.

Among the favorites, Sammy Smith seems to be a good pick. He’s steadily improving this NASCAR season and has shown pace there in limited experience. Of the sleepers, Jones is the easy pick there. He’s won there before and raced well otherwise. We like Sammy Smith, Jones, Chandler Smith, Allgaier, and Creed to complete the top five group.
