Not only did Horford help on the court, but he was also one of the emotional leaders of the team. But nearly every year Boston explores “upgrading” over Horford and looks for a replacement. The 76ers and Knicks seem unlikely trading partners for the Celtics. But Boston could deal him to a division rival as a favor. So they can’t be entirely discounted. The Houston Rockets also make a bit of sense. Houston needs help all the way around and Horford could be a positive influence on some of the younger NBA players. The Rockets were 22-60 straight-up and 34-46-2 against the NBA betting lines last season. There’s definitely a need for talent in Houston.

San Antonio is weak at the center position, to begin with. Although Horford’s primary job would be to help Wembanyama learn the ropes of the NBA. He’d be the perfect player for that part.
