Trae Young Next Team Odds: Lakers the Favored Destination

Lakers +125 to Land Hawks Superstar Guard

The NBA trade season is already off and running. Former Washington Wizards star Bradley Beal was the first big name on the move. He was shipped Sunday to the Phoenix Suns in exchange for a package including Chris Paul, Landry Shamet and multiple draft picks.

Rumor has it, Atlanta Hawks standout Trae Young may get dealt as well. But when? And if so, where? Young averaged 26.2 points, 10.2 assists and 1.1 steals per game in 2022-23, but the two-time All-Star could be looking for a change of scenery.

With that in mind, let’s look at the best Trae Young next team odds.

THE FAVORITE

Lakers logo Los Angeles Lakers (+125)

It’s no wonder Los Angeles has the best Trae Young next team odds. On the heels of their run to the Western Conference Finals, the Lakers will be looking for another star to team with LeBron James and Anthony Davis. They certainly could use a jolt at point guard after cycling through Russell Westbrook and D’Angelo Russell last year.

Los Angeles has some valuable young assets to flip in a potential sign-and-trade, including Rui Hachimura and Austin Reaves. Young, who shares the same agent as James, probably wouldn’t need much convincing to play for the Lakers.

NEXT IN LINE

Bulls logo Chicago Bulls (+500)

After flaming out in the Play-In Tournament this season, Chicago may be looking to shake things up. One name potentially on the block is shooting guard Zack LaVine, who is under contract through 2025-26 but should net the most in return if the Bulls do decide to move him.

It may not necessarily be for Young — according to NBC Sports Chicago, the Bulls would prioritize getting a strong young player, draft capital and salary relief in return — but the point is, they have trade ammunition.

With DeMar DeRozan and Nikola Vucevic getting older, Chicago may sense its window closing. Would Atlanta be averse to trading Young within the division?

Heat logo Miami Heat (+550)

Kyle Lowry is already 37, and if Miami is going to win another NBA title, it’ll likely need to surround Jimmy Butler and Bam Adebayo with more talent. After watching his superstar tandem run out of gas in the NBA Finals against Denver, team president Pat Riley may be itching to make a big move.

Miami has plenty of attractive trade chips, including Tyler Herro and Duncan Robinson.

Clippers logo Los Angeles Clippers (+600)

The Clippers have been all-in since landing both Paul George and Kawhi Leonard in 2019. Without much to show for that marriage, Los Angeles is expected to go big-game hunting again this offseason. Adding Young would not only significantly upgrade the roster, but it would keep him away from the rival Lakers.

Mavericks logo Dallas Mavericks (+700)

Sure, the Mavericks recently swung a deal for an All-Star point guard (see: Kyrie Irving). But Mark Cuban and Co. still need to determine Irving’s future with the franchise. There are multiple roads they could take, including shipping Irving in a sign-and-trade.

After last season’s experiment bombed, would anyone be surprised to see the parties part ways this offseason? Dallas has some intriguing assets, including the No. 10 pick in Thursday’s draft. Young and Luka Doncic — who, coincidentally, were traded for each other in the 2018 draft — would be an electric pairing.

Wizards logoWashington Wizards (+900)

Paul may not be long for D.C. According to ESPN, the Wizards have already begun fielding offers to possibly flip the 12-time All-Star to another NBA team. Washington could look to fill that opening at point guard by acquiring Young.

There are a lot of hypotheticals in play under that scenario. But isn’t that what makes the offseason interesting?

THE LONGSHOTS

Celtics logo Boston Celtics (+1000)

If — and again, it’s a big if — the Celtics decide to move on from Jaylen Brown, they would need to find another running mate for Jayson Tatum. However, all signs point toward the Celtics re-signing Brown on a $295 million super-max extension.

Timberwolves logo Minnesota Timberwolves (+1000)

The Timberwolves have gotten only so far in the NBA standings with Anthony Edwards and Karl-Anthony Towns. Might a shake-up be in order in the Twin Cities?

Trail Blazers logo Portland Trailblazers (+1400)

The Trailblazers own the No. 3 pick, which they could use to land a premium player to pair with Damian Lillard. That is, of course, assuming Lillard wants to remain in Portland. Oh, the possibilities.

Other Trae Young next team odds: New Orleans Pelicans (+1800), Denver Nuggets (+2000), Oklahoma City Thunder (+2000), Utah Jazz (+2500), San Antonio Spurs (+2500).
