Cavaliers Tipped to Extend Home Streak vs Suns

Suns vs Cavaliers Preview

The Cleveland Cavaliers host the Phoenix Suns on Monday night and we have a Suns vs Cavaliers preview at the ready.

Looking to extend their already impressive home record of 22-11, the Cavaliers are hanging in there without Donovan Mitchell and Evan Mobley.

The Suns seek a road win, having lost to Boston last time on court, and an even matchup is expected at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse.

Suns at Their Best Win

When the Suns are at their best, they are one of the best teams in the NBA.

However, knowing when they’re going to be at their best is the tricky thing for bettors, and they’re not consistent at all.

The 37-27 team has the luxury of having Kevin Durant and Devin Booker, but we have never seen much cohesion on the floor.

NBA futures odds are always treating the Suns with trepidation because of their inconsistency, which has included recent losses to the Rockets, Thunder, and Celtics, but also included wins over the Nuggets and Raptors.

Despite Durant having 45 points against Boston, it’s still not enough to see them win.

“I just wanted to be aggressive, play through anything,” Durant said. “I was able to knock some shots down and loosen the defense. We were right there so many times, but they made big plays coming out of time outs.”

Covering spreads hasn’t been easy. They are 25-37-2 ATS, which isn’t ideal for bettors. However, they have a chance to improve their record if they can handle teams like the Cavaliers.

They are 3-7 ATS over their last 10 games, so we have to include that in our Suns vs Cavaliers preview. They haven’t been a good wager, so it’s tough to back the visitors with confidence.

Cavaliers Hanging Tough

Losing Mitchell and Mobley is enough to make most teams crumble, but the Cavaliers have been playing well in his absence.

They lost to the Knicks and Hawks last week but wins over the Pistons, Celtics and Timberwolves bode well. Beating the Celtics 105-104 was a mammoth effort, especially after being behind by double digits at one stage.

They were also terrific in beating the Timberwolves in overtime last week, so there are plenty of positives for the home team despite being without two of their best players.

Despite being 22-11 SU at home, the Cavaliers have a disappointing ATS record. They are only 15-17 ATS at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse, which is concerning.

They have a chance of making the NBA Finals if they play well at home, so it’s crucial they keep turning up in front of their home fans.

Like the Suns, they are 3-7 ATS from their last 10 games, which is why there’s little between them with betting markets and our Suns vs Cavaliers preview.

Another Tough Home Win

We’re picking the Cavaliers to score another home win, and it’s largely because we can’t trust the Suns.

NBA games today are often decided in the fourth quarter, and we think the Cavaliers have more heart and grit than the Suns.

We have been impressed with the play from Darius Garland in Mitchell’s absence. Before Mitchell was signed to the team, he was the most exciting player on the roster, so it’s good to see his old form returning.

They have banded as a unit despite having injuries, and there is no such mental fortitude with the Suns, who often play as five individuals.

We’re including the under in our NBA picks. We can’t see it being a high scoring contest, and only overtime could see the under come under threat.
