Wrong Team Favored with Timberwolves vs Pacers Odds?

Money for the Home Side

The Indiana Pacers are best-backed to beat the Minnesota Timberwolves on Thursday night at Gainbridge Fieldhouse.

Timberwolves vs Pacers odds have the home side at -1.5 after opening at -1, but the wrong team could be favored in this matchup.

The injury to Karl-Anthony Towns is the determining factor, but don’t sleep on the Timberwolves.

Enough Scoring Elsewhere

Losing KAT to an injury isn’t the worst thing to happen to the 43-19 Timberwolves, who have been excellent on the road.

It allows the likes of Anthony Edwards and Mike Conley to have more space to drive and kick it out, as Towns would usually be clogging the paint.

They would love to have him on the floor, but we don’t think his injury warrants a massive overreaction at the sportsbook.

We expect the Minnesota Timberwolves stats to be similar to what they have achieved recently, including wins over the Spurs, Grizzlies, and Blazers.

Those games came at home, but they have been even more impressive on the road, where they ride a winning streak.

Their first meeting against the Pacers was a 127-109 home win, and we can’t see that result being too much different because of the Towns omission.

Timberwolves vs Pacers odds could have the wrong team favored, but most of the money is coming for the Pacers.

Inconsistent Pacers

Backing the Pacers on a consistent basis can be frustrating, but they were at their best against the Dallas Mavericks.

The 137-120 win saw them strengthen their NBA playoff standings, and they have every chance of keeping that run going against the Timberwolves.

Just because we think the Timberwolves vs Pacers odds are the wrong way around doesn’t mean the Pacers can’t win, especially at home.

They are 20-12 SU at home and 17-13-2 ATS, so there is enough to get behind the home side on Thursday.

However, consistency is worrying us. They recently lost games to the Raptors, Pelicans and Spurs, with the latter being the most worrying loss on their record.

Despite having one of the NBA assist leaders in Tyrese Haliburton, they were unable to score much against the Spurs awful defense.

If they want to beat the Timberwolves and cover the -1.5 spread, they’ll need to make their buckets. Haliburton averages 20.8 points per game, so he might need to be more selfish with the ball and lead the Pacers.

He has the potential to score 30+ points every night, and that could be what the Pacers need right now.

Hit and Run Mission

The Timberwolves have had the benefit of playing their recent games at home, but they won’t mind coming into Indiana and leaving with a win.

Their road record is better than most in the NBA, and if Towns was playing, we would have expected them to be -3.5 favorites.

We’re happy to back them regardless of who is on the floor because Edwards is one of the most talented scorers in the NBA. He should be freed up with Towns out of action, and we expect nothing less than 30 points.

Our NBA picks include the Timberwolves +1.5 and over 229. It could be a wide open contest with little defense played, which suits both teams, and we expect something around a 118-115 game.

That’s enough to cash the over, which is lower than we expected. There is plenty of value with the Timberwolves vs Pacers.
