Cavaliers vs Jazz Lines: Bet Cleveland ATS vs Utah

Playoff-Bound Cavs Take On Slumping Jazz

The Cleveland Cavaliers look to end their road losing streak when they take on the Utah Jazz in a clash between guard Donovan Mitchell’s current and former teams on Tuesday night. Cleveland has dropped five of its last seven games overall and four straight road contests heading into this one, dropping them down in the NBA playoff bracket in the Eastern Conference.

The Cavaliers sit in third place in the Eastern Conference but lead the New York Knicks by just a half-game and the Orlando Magic by just a game, meaning they need to start picking up some wins in a hurry. Utah has dropped nine in a row and has already been eliminated from playoff contention in the Western Conference.

Cleveland is favored to get back on track in this one, giving 11.5 points on a point-spread bet. The over/under for the game has been set at 215.5 points.

Can Mitchell, Cavs Get Things Going?

The Cavaliers’ recent struggles can be attributed to Mitchell’s absence over a six-game stretch due to a nasal fracture. He returned on Friday against the Philadelphia 76ers and scored 12 points, then scored 13 points in a loss to the Denver Nuggets on Sunday. He hasn’t looked like the player leading Cleveland with 26.8 points per game, so the team is hoping he’ll start to return to form soon.

Guard Darius Garland also struggled against Denver, finishing with just five points. However, when he’s right, Garland can be one of the more dangerous guards in the league, averaging 18.0 points and 6.5 assists per contest.

Forward Eric Mobley has been playing well of late, averaging 21.5 points over the last two games. The 22-year-old is scoring 15.8 points and grabbing 9.8 rebounds per game, so his scoring could be one of the NBA player props you should look at going over in this one.

Jazz Fighting But Not Getting Results

It’s easy to look at the Jazz’s place in the NBA standings and their current nine-game losing skid and believe that the team has given up on the rest of the season. It’s hard to believe that, though when you look at their results in recent weeks. Sure, they’ve lost nine in a row, but they fell by just one on Friday to the Houston Rockets, who are fighting to get into the postseason.

There have been some ugly losses as well, including a 28-point setback to Houston on March 23 and a 21-point loss to the Sacramento Kings on Sunday, so the Cavaliers vs Jazz lines for this one certainly seem justified. But that doesn’t mean Cleveland can just look past this game, either.

Utah’s lineup has been ravaged by NBA injuries, with starters Lauri Markkanen (shoulder) and John Collins (back) and sixth man Jordan Clarkson (back) all out for this contest. That’s three of the team’s top four scorers relegated to the bench, with guard Collin Sexton (18.8 points, 4.9 assists) left to lead the team.

Cavaliers Pick Up Easy Road Win

Mitchell played his first five NBA seasons with the Jazz before being dealt to the Cavaliers prior to the 2022-23 campaign. In his first return to Salt Lake City with his new team, he went off for 46 points in a two-point loss last season. Look for him to try to get his offensive game going in a place he used to call home.

Utah just doesn’t have enough offensive firepower to score many points against a very solid Cavaliers defense to make this one competitive. Make sure you give the points and take the Jazz in this one, and the under is definitely a preferred play as well.
