They’ve got the chance to make it ten with a home game against the Dallas Mavericks on ESPN.

Meanwhile, the Mavericks are continuing their road trip. Dallas will play its fourth straight road game and have gone just 1-2 in those other three. The most recent game was a win over the Raptors, 136-125.

Currently, the Mavericks are 34-25, but just 7th in the Western Conference. The goal is to get into the top six by the end of the season so they don’t have to worry about the NBA Play-In Tournament.

A win against the Celtics on the road would undoubtedly put the Mavericks in a better position.

That said, the Celtics are still -8 (-115) favorites, with the total set at 238.5.

Mavericks vs Celtics Odds & Trends

The Dallas Mavericks might not have a better record than the Celtics. But Dallas has actually covered more NBA games than the Celtics this season.

The Mavericks have gone 32-27 against the spread, while the Celtics are only 28-27-3 against the spread this season.

Meanwhile, both NBA teams have hit the Under slightly more throughout the season. The Celtics are 27-3 at home, and Dallas is 16-12 on the road.

In the first meeting between Boston and Dallas, the Celtics earned a 119-110 victory on the road. The Celtics have won three straight games against Dallas dating back to 2022 and have also covered in each of those three games as slight favorites.

Does Jaden Hardy Need More Minutes?

The Dallas Mavericks have an exciting core of NBA players on the squad. While Kyrie Irving and Luka Doncic will get the most minutes and shots, other players have stepped up for Dallas recently.

Tim Hardaway Jr. has scored 16.8 points per game, and newcomers like Daniel Gafford and P.J. Washington have given the Dallas team solid minutes. The frontcourt looks a whole lot better with those two in it.

However, the guy who maybe doesn’t get enough love is Jaden Hardy. He’s a guard averaging about eight points per game, with 1.9 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game. He’s also played just 14 minutes in the last three games.

He’s had moments and stepped up when other guys have been unavailable. He scored 17 points against Philadelphia earlier this month after shooting 6-for-10 from the field. He also added many games with 15+ in January, drilling at least four threes in two matchups.

It’s time to play Hardy more.

Boston Looks Championship Ready

The Boston Celtics have won nine consecutive games and are letting up. The team is stacked throughout the starting lineup and has plenty of depth on the bench.

Many championship-level teams earn massive win streaks in the regular season. When you play 6-8 weeks of dominant basketball, that’s when teams start to prove their real identity. If you can’t string together monster wins over a two-month period, it’ll be hard to do the same come NBA playoff time.

Again, the Celtics are on pace for 60+ wins to finish the regular season and will likely be the No. 1 seed in the Eastern Conference this year.

Boston is legitimate.

Dallas’ Depth Is Enough

The Celtics are tough to beat at home. However, Boston is typically overvalued just based on their record. Because of that overvaluation, the Celtics haven’t been good against the spread this NBA season.

Dallas played only eight players in the first meeting between the Celtics and Mavericks. It was the Luka Doncic show when he dropped 33 points and grabbed 18 rebounds with 13 assists in 40 minutes. But only Tim Hardaway Jr. and Kyrie Irving contributed at a high level offensively in that game.

The Mavericks look different now.

They’ve got another weapon in P.J. Washington, who has looked terrific over the last couple of games with Dallas. He just scored 23 points in 31 minutes with six rebounds in the win against Toronto.

Meanwhile, the Celtics aren’t good at forcing turnovers. Dallas should be able to limit turnovers at a high level and get shots up. There won’t be many offensive rebounds for the Mavericks, but any time you give Doncic and Irving the ball, they’ll score points at a high rate.

On the other hand, the Celtics should end up adding more offensive rebounds. They’ll also get some high-quality looks from the floor. But Dallas should at least stick around and keep this game close throughout.

We’re not saying the Celtics will lose. But this is the game for Dallas to prove its worth. This will be a good test for Dallas’ new lineup since the Trade Deadline. They’ll ultimately prove if they’re worthy of a top-six playoff spot in the Western Conference.
