Current WNBA West Standings: Las Vegas Lords Over Division
Vegas With 11-Game Cushion While Others Struggle for Playoffs

The Las Vegas Aces are runaway favorites to win the WNBA Championship. Its main rival resides in the other conference: the New York Liberty. But in its own side, Las Vegas has almost been perfect: 15-1 against its conference rivals. The current WNBA West standings show Vegas with an 11-game lead over second-placed Dallas. This team is not guaranteed the playoffs. It still has to outdo two other conference teams to secure a spot.
Current WNBA Western Conference Standings
Las Vegas sits pretty atop the current WNBA West standings. It is also just one of two teams with a positive point differential and leads in points scored (94 per game) and points allowed (79.6). That’s what most WNBA predictions had as this team has an All-Star starting lineup and frequently blows up WNBA scores.
2023 WNBA Western Conference Standings
- Las Vegas Aces: 27-3
- Dallas Wings: 16-14
- Minnesota Lynx: 14-16
- Los Angeles Sparks: 12-18
- Seattle Storm: 9-21
- Phoenix Mercury: 9-21
The Aces clinched a playoff spot two weeks ago. But the rest of its conference mates have yet to do so. The Dallas Wings could be the next to do it though it won’t be easy The team snapped a three-game skid but must now visit Connecticut and Washington. Afterwards, it has two straight games against the team below it in the standings: the Lynx.
The Wings have the edge over two of these three teams when it comes to the WNBA stats. But Dallas is still a flawed team. It is turnover-prone and occasionally gives up as many points as it scores.
As for Minnesota, the Lynx has lost three of its last four games. The team has been hampered by injuries. But thanks to the MVP-like play of Napheesa Collier, Minnesota could clinch a playoff spot even with a record below .500. It has two straight games against Seattle before facing Dallas.
Last but not the least, the Los Angeles Sparks are not out of the playoff picture just yet. Like Minnesota, the team has been injury-prone. And like Collier, Nneka Ogwumike has put the team on her back. The Sparks are tied with the East’s Chicago Sky in win-loss record. So it has a small margin for error moving forward.
Better Luck Next Year
While Dallas, Minnesota, and Los Angeles hunt for a playoff spot, Seattle and Phoenix look to next season. With just nine wins each, they are tied for the last spot in the current WNBA West standings. They still have a marginal chance of making the postseason. But nobody should bet on it.
Instead, fans can look forward to these teams getting a top three draft pick in a stacked 2024 draft class. The two get to pick from the likes of Caitlin Clark, Paige Bueckers, and Aaliyah Edwards. These stars are potentially franchise-changing. And that’s just the tip of the iceberg.
